We need to have a lot of patience next season

Tue May 02, 2017 6:57 am

If we lose the first couple of games or if we start off in the bottom half for the first few matches! It's a long season and getting behind the players and manager will wear off on the team just like it will if we start getting on their backs if things don't start off well. I'm not saying it'll happen like this ...we may win and draw some of first matches of the new season but there will be new players in the squad who'll need a couple of games to settle into the system too. I've got full faith in Warnock and believe he can get us as high as possible with the players we will have and I'm hoping that's into the top 6 but it'll be a very tough and for me personally Im hoping for a top 8 finish (that's mY expectations anyway). There's no guarantee that we will get a top 6 place - I mean look at some others clubs and the money they will be spending - if the jacks come down they'll be a good side I'd imagine to name one. Perhaps Villa will invest more again into the squad? So I think we need to have some patience as it may be one of those seasons where we are lingering between 6-10th place and then break into the playoffs at the end of the season. If we can all get behind the club no matter whether we are in 6-10 or 10+ , be the 12th man so to speak, then the final couple of months of the season will be when we really know what's going to happen. :bluescarf: :bluebird: :bluescarf: :bluebird: people who are expecting auto promotion - wake up! People who are expecting promotion via play offs - it's a tough ask and people who expect a top 6 - 8 finish - are probably more realistic! Not that I'm any expect of course lol! :bluescarf:

You won't get it.Most realise we weren't that far off being a top 6 team this season and if Warnock had been here from the start and spent in the Jan window and all that.He has set his stall out for next season already and lots including me have bought into this and I expect us to set our stall out early and carry on as we set out.Being 8th or 9th going into next Jan will not be good enough for me and many.many others I think. The bar has been set.

i agree despite NW trying to back track a little. we all bought into the record promotions and he wouldnt stick around unless he thought the club were serious talk.
plus having looked at previous seasons no club has ever made play offs after a 8pts from 11 games start that we had this year since its been a 24 team division. 67pts and 10th was best and 62 pts second best which sugests a good start is far more important than i { and im sure others } had previously realised.

Agree with the OP. We are doing business sustainably now and with that we have to show more patience. I've said before that I think it will take Warnock 2 or 3 transfer windows to get us right up there. If people wanna throw their toys out because we're not in the playoff spots in Jan then that's there issue. I still think it's definitely possible but i'm happy if i can see progress in the bigger picture.

But I'm afraid going by this forum our fans are incapable of giving players 'a few games' to settle, if they don't hit the ground running then they will be slated. Look no further than Ken or even Huws who was given one half a game of football and then an FA cup game months later and was judged yet gets a run at Ipswich and does the business.

Warnock said he's wants to have a go at it and definitely not promised promotion or a top 6 finish! Having a go will mean an improvement on this season and perhaps a top 8 finish with possible play off place. People seem to get carried away when the club make a statement! Yes I'm expecting a definite improvement in our final table place next season but I'm not thinking to myself - a top 6 place is a definite! Just think after the first 5 matches if we are not in the top 6 people will start to moan as usual and then negativity will wear off on the team! If we don't get behind the team 100% (I'm not saying a little frustration at various results once in a while is wrong) then we wI'll have our selves to blame as well as the club! Obviously all this said - I'm dreaming of a top 6 finish but it's not guaranteed even u der Warnock on abit of a tight budget! Look at QPR that year that he managed and got into the playoffs winning against us - they had some fantastic players.........not saying we do t but you can see the difference! Excited for the summer signings though and crossing everything that we can really challenge next season!

Hudderfield have shown this season you can't call it in the championship you never know we could win the league on record number of points you just don't know although that would be very welcome.
