8000 VILLA FANS AT BLACKBURN SATURDAY

Mon May 01, 2017 5:55 pm

Big news stories on midland sport stations - villa take 8000 to blackburn which is amazing support for any club especially one with nothing to play for ---- but many fans were wearing blackburn shirts, booing their own goalkeeper when he made a save and cheering every blackburn attack - i know they hate their city neighbours birmingham with a vengance and want to see them relegated but cmon, i could never cheer another side playing city and definately not wear another teams colours----opinions

It does seem a tad obsessed but we will never know what its like to have the level of rivalry they have to be fair.

Been following us for 27 years and I am not trying to play down our rivalry with Jacks and Wurzels but what I am saying is that we will never know the rivalry that THEY have because we are a one team City.

Some of our fans will not come into contact with a Bristol City fan or Swansea fan and if they do it will be once in a blue moon whilst two team City's like Birmingham, Sheffield etc etc, even Stoke, these lads are living and working side by side day in day out, they share the same pubs, the same clubs, the same restaurants, the same schools, the same everything, the rivalry is intense, it might not get reported but it goes off weekly, its a completely different level for me.

This is why I think our rivalries are a little more unique. The major city derby matches alot of them know them probably friends or work with them so I would not think it would be as bad. However as a.club we have moved forward and closer to a.family club so the rivalry is not what it was when I started supporting 1991
