Not as big as everyone thinks now the truth is out on season ticket numbers ...
Leeds United to honour fan refunds as club set to miss out on play-offs
BBC
Tuesday 2nd May 2017
Leeds United say they will honour a promise to partially refund fans who bought season tickets for 2016-17 if they miss out on the play-offs.
Barring a 14-goal swing in the final round of fixtures, Garry Monk's side will now finish outside the top six.
Fans who bought a season ticket for the Championship club before the end of May 2016 will get 25% of their money back.
The club had pledged to give refunds of 50% if they sold 15,000 tickets, but they did not reach that number.
Leeds, who have extended a deadline for supporters to claim their money back, are in the process of sending forms to season ticket holders who qualify for the refund.
The cost to the club, co-owned by Italian businessman Massimo Cellino, is not known, but it is understood that funds have been ring-fenced to pay back the money.
Speaking after Saturday's 3-3 draw with Norwich, which effectively ended their play-off hopes, manager Monk said: "The reality is, the majority of the group were not quite ready for this situation. That's not a criticism. It's just a fact."

in all fairness that was a really good offer.
as long as 15k have bought STs if we dont make play offs we give you 50% cash back.

Leeds only sold 14,500 season tickets , but still averaged at least 27,000, with 5 crowds over 31,000 and their away support average was about 3,000, not bad for a club that was only going for the play offs and I can't stand them, but credit where credit is due

It's their away support that impresses me. For a club in the playoffs most of the season 25k average is good but not exactly rare we used to get similar when we were up there.

It does show they have very fickle fans as you would expect more than 14k ST holders for such a "big" club. Because they're getting around 9k walk up fans who won't commit to club for the season.?

they are big but not huge. and some of those bigger crowds were bring a friend for a fiver games like the game against ourselves. a few days later their next attendance was down by thousands.
for the amount of good seasons, trophys and investment they have had should be doing much better.

Leeds are only the 5th best team in Yorkshire after Sheffield Wednesday, Huddersfield, Hull and Middlesbrough !!

Correct Wez, how we can even down their support in this division is unreal when ours is nearly half there's and away from home we don't compare.
Still don't like Leeds fans attitude though

But you draw none of those same comparisons if a discussion between who is the biggest club in Wales arrises, so I would suggest using them against Leeds is bit disingenuous. Is that fair?
they are a massive club due to their success in living memory, especially in the modern era which is so important. If all clubs in the U.K. were ranked by size then they would comfortably be Premier League.

I agree and you would be league 2

That is just as silly as trying to make out Leeds aren't a big club. In season ticket sales and recent success we would also probably be lower end Premier League/upper championship. I'd say Cardiff would be mid table/lower Championship. Nothing to be ashamed of, that is decent for a team with 1 PL season and no major trophies for 90 years.
