News on peter whittingham

Mon May 01, 2017 11:12 am

So last Night all the players were out after town and I seen whitts asked are you signing a contract yes or no? In his words " warnock hasn't offered me anything" I was a bit shocked at this as warnock said he's offered him a contract. I asked what do you mean he just said he hasn't offered me anything so I'm assuming it was a contract

Warnock has said he will be speaking to all players out of contract at end of season once he has his budget ,I'd personally like to keep Whitts but if I'm honest I think Warnock will either offer Whitts a contract on reduced wages at half of what he is on now or use Whitts Wages for 2 new players,

Was said he was offered new contract but didn't sign it so offer was withdrawn? Presumably now things on hold for time being. :occasion5:

He's done I think.I'm also a great believer in letting the manager manage.I like Warnock alot now he's our manager  but he made an awful big stick of his own making which will be used by the fans if his side don't hit the ground running next season.I can't remember any other City manager being so bullish about next season before a ball is kicked as Neil though he has tried to tone it down a little lately.

you are right.
Warnock definitely said there was a contract on the table months ago.

He definitely said there was an offer on the table but also said the offer maybe withdrawn as a result of FFP.

Didnt he say there was an offer but that had been with drawn to the end of the season ?

Re: News on peter whittingham

Warnock did say there was a contract on the table but then he did say he has withdrawn it. There are going to be tough decisions made by Warnock and we ain't going to like all of them but being Manager doesn't allow for sentiment. If Whitts doesn't feature in his plans so be it. If it is his last season with us then I wish him all the best in the world.

If Whitts does end up going I hope he gets a better organised testimonial the Super Kev.
He certainly deserves some glamour opposition rather than a kick about with a bunch of celebs.
It would be good to see Whitts get 2 goals next week too to notch his 100 goals with the club

Re: News on peter whittingham

He was offered a new contract in February and didn'tsign it after a few weeks it was withdrawn. Maybe after a few beers whitts memory gets cloudy.

He's desperate to stay, he loves this club and still has quality to offer. Sign him up for another 12 months. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

He's probably staying. He's a Marmite player. Whatever happens 50% of the fan base will be happy and 50% will be gutted. I don't think he'll get any better offer anywhere else than he will be offered here. He likes the area so if he doesn't like the reduced offer that's his decision but I think his army of apostles can rest easy. We're stuck with him!

Re: News on peter whittingham

if Warnock seen him as a first teamer no doubt he would be signed up. all good things come to an end though. wish him well but the club would be silly to offer him a good wage when he is likely to be on the bench at best.

well i am a Whitts apostle but first and foremost a Cardiff fan and see no mileage in signing him if he isnt in the managers plans. going on the last dozen or so games i dont think he is.

Now in all fairness that's the first grown up post I've read from a Whittingham groupie. Well done. However, I'm 99% certain he'll be with us next season and therefore we'll all continue to have some vigorous discussions on this interesting topic.

my take on this has always been either your going to use him and offer him a real contract. or be straight and tell him he doesnt feature in plans.
all this lets offer him 25% of what emyr huws earns . i think is insulting.

I happen to think any offer is insulting if someone gets more than anyone else. They should all be on the same wage and £8k a week is disgraceful. It makes a mockery of us all.

Witts is bending the truth a tad there.

He may not have an offer on the table at the moment but, as Welsh Patriot saud, there was a contract offered to Witts that he did not sign and it then got withdrawn.

I don't know if you're right Wayne because I don't know the exact circumstances, however in a Q&A in Caerphilly last month at that time Warnock said he had made Whittingham an offer which he had not yet accepted but that due to financial constraints Warnock had to withdraw the offer so that he could reconsider it at the end of the season.

To be honest all this primadonna stuff of some players thinking they are better and worth more than their team mates gets right up my nose. They should be grateful they're not shoveling mud with a teaspoon for a bare living.

It is clear Warnock made Whits an offer he sat on it to long and then the club withdrew it as they have to look at the future of the club and get in better players as Warnock has said what he wants . I hope that this is wrong from the original post if whits did say that then he is not worth signing with that attitude

Whitts is hardly going to say 'they've only offered me £9k and I'm holding out for more ' is he

I think it'll all sort itself out one way or another soon enough and whatever is decided just needs to be what's best for the club

i agree. but equally he could well be saying the truth.
i dont know Whitts but in 10 years there has been no scandals or outbursts in the press/twitter.
yet we have a small army prepared to call him a liar. assume he is being greedy.and calling him a primadonna.

the last sentence is mind blowing stuff.
lets recruit players that dont think they should earn more, despite paying quite large fees. and despite the fact that they know they are being signed to IMPROVE the team.
football has not worked like that since old etonians last won the cup.
