' CARDIFF CITY RIGHT BACK TARGET COULD SIGN A PRE-CONTRACT '

Derby Telegraph

Thursday 20th April 2017

Derby County transfer 'target' Callum Paterson (Hearts) could sign a pre-contract deal with Cardiff City, according to reports.

The Rams as well as Cardiff, Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic were linked with a January move for the 22-year-old right back before his campaign was ended by a serious knee injury.

Former Derby boss Steve McClaren watched Paterson play for Hearts in November.

Paterson is out of contract in the summer and it has been reported that Hearts would be due a development fee of around £450,000 should he move on.

Cardiff City have kept in contact and have monitored his progress since his injury.

No chance, I thinks that's one position that Warnock is happy with. Both Peltier and Richards are in Warnocks plans for next season in my opinion.

Manga is going! This lad is 6'2" and can play right across the back so he will be in NW mind that's for sure

Thats the thing lads.I think we are all struggling to second guess NW.But if theres any legs in this story the NW must be across this somehow because I can't remember the last time someone signed a pre contract agreement before.

What a signing this would be. Could be compared to when we were interested in McNaughton. I think we'd have a right back for a decade if we signed this lad. Definitely worth looking at ahead of Peltier and Richards. Especially if he's free. Get him in and make money on one of the other two.

Agree this guy is absolutely top quality and worth getting in. Not only has pace, power and solid defending, but also attacks well AND has a long throw in the locker which Warnock likes!

Good point we are not used to having a manager with a bit of influence. Any player looking to step up would be interested in working with NW and his team as they have a track record of improving players.

He's still injured and won't be ready to play till Oct/Nov. Still worth a punt at 450k.

Because he is from Scotland we shouldn't have to pay anything am I right?

Is he that good?... Half a million pound for another injured player? That's not peanuts on our budget.

Looks a prospect and under Warnock could prove to be good buy, I realise money is tight but think he's worth 450k.

I was hoping the days of signing I Jared players would be over. But I trust Warnocks judgement if there's weight behind it.

Bit strange though we're getting linked to every full back and his dog when we're blessed with an array of fullbacks. Agents touting players who are looking for clubs... Hmmm...

I'm sure we did not pay any development fee for keV as he was from Scotland.
I'm also sure we list Joe for the same zero fee as he went to Celtic.

Cross border moves do not require a fee.

Rangers are getting half a million from Chelsea for a development fee for a young player. Scottish press say City would have to pony up £450,000.

Think your correct, the Rangers boy is still under contract so it's a development fee, Patterson would be out of contract so no fee payable. Sorry for talking Tom Kite earlier.

Just speaking to a mate of mine who works with the Club (Hearts) and is friends with Callum. He said the lad was down Cardiff during the week and he is expecting him to join us.

His opinion is he is although he is still raw the potential and current ability is excellent.

Wez,I get that but doesn't it make you think that if he and Jazz and the english international lumox Lambert up front had hit the ground running then Trollope would have still been in charge. I can't see Warnock signing a complete crock.
