Whilst I can completely understand the reasons why TM has called this election I will NEVER get my head around just why JC didn't do everything in his power to pull the rug from under her and stop this election from passing the vote in parliament today.
This will be the 12th General Election since I got the vote and without doubt the reason behind it is simply "Political Opportunism". In my opinion this is the latest move in a very controlled sequence TM and her staff have drawn up in the months since her election as leader of the Conservative Party and therefore Prime Minister. This apparent "Epiphany" whilst on holiday in North Wales is utter bollocks in my opinion and the manner in which she delivered this message shows her to be devious and insincere, but name me a good politician who isn't.
The country doesn't need this election, JC needs it about as much as he needs a wart on his knob but as he lacks any political nous we shouldn't be surprised at the way he has handled the last 24 hours. But the inept way he has handled this WILL deliver a landslide Tory majority, split the country over the single issue surrounding this election i.e. BREXIT and send Labour into it's worst election result since 1931 where they lost over 220 MP'S.
If JC had stopped TM from getting the votes required to trigger this election he would have had to front up to a lot of name calling, but it would have bought him 3 years to gather the Labour Party around him whilst sitting back and watching the Conservatives implode from the infighting that will result from these Brexit negotiations, and I believe that will happen landslide victory or not.
Kinnock had his "oh yeah - we're alright" moment during the 1992 Election, Gordon Brown had the Gillian Duffy moment in 2010 Election and today the head turkey Corbyn ensured his MP's voted for Christmas.
In fairness to TM she is coming across as an accomplished politician, devious and insincere, but accomplished and in my opinion she looks every bit the best person to lead our nation.
