Swansea have been a Premier League team for over 20% the Premier Leagues lifespan, it will take something pretty special to think of Cardiff as the bigger club now. That's just the fact of the matter.

Yet despite getting everything we still have a mediocre football team

Being a premiership club does not make any team bigger than next club? There are several clubs in championship or lower that are bigger than you and several other clubs in premiership

Oh agreed Allan. Performance, global exposure, global fanbase, income generated, memorable success. All key factors. Thankfully we perform rather well in all of them.
Not claiming to be Real Madrid but of the 92 teams in the top footballing tiers, we are now certainly among the top 25%. I think Cardiff would struggle to make a case to state the same. But some success in the future and that could well be possible. That is what you should be aiming for now.

We do very well in global awareness as a city! as for other things can argue all day what constitutes bigger ? And unless any team reaches top six awareness is not that great despite being in premiership! I travel a lot and believe me foreigners basically only interested in big teams.

What has that got to do with anything? So do Tokyo (on a scale that makes Cardiffs mediocre global exposure laughable) does that make their football clubs big? No. If that was the case Barnet and Leyton Orient would be jumping for joy. You have actually achieve stuff or have a massive home grown or international to be considered a big club. Cardiff have had one solitary top flight appearance in the last 50+ years and finished bottom and spent most of its life in the footballing daldrums.
Swansea has not been a colossus either by any means but our achievements in living memory, especially in an age where football has gone to a whole other level in terms of global awareness and exposure beats an awful lot of clubs. There is massive increase in foreign interest that spans much more than just the top 6. USA is a prime example, this was pre takeover.

Mmm where did I say it made us bigger? Just said we get good exposure as a city in turn means awareness of ccfc as a biproduct! Guess appearing 4 times at Wembley since 2008 is not a success? Anyway time to depart don't get into never ending discussions!![]()

Well then great, it means we both agree that it doesn't. But as stated, cardiff as a City does not get good global exposure. Wales hardly gets any global exposure let alone Cardiff. And what little exposure the City gets is certainly not about the football clubs there. Take my Tokyo example of which Cardiff is a mere crumb to, does that make interest in their football clubs soar? No.
This is a good way to highlight the point I am making. This is google searches for the specific clubs (not Cities or universities etc) Cardiff City FC and Swansea City FC over the last 5 years. This shows the origin of the searches and the density of each region:-
Cardiff City FC:-
Swansea City FC:-

SnackaJack wrote::D you have picked two clubs that have fallen financially (not surprisingly), could add Pompey and Wigan to that list too.
Teams that have spent a similar time in the restructured Prem (1995-1996 onwards) that have a similar sound/safe financial footing are -
Birmingham City (ave PL finish of 14th)
Charlton Athletic (ave PL finish of 12th)
Crystal Palace (ave PL finish of 16th)
Derby County (ave PL finish of 14th)
Norwich City (ave PL finish of 17th)
Sheff Wed (ave PL finish of 14th)
Stoke (ave PL finish of 11th)
Of these clubs only 1 has managed to equal Swansea in winning a major trophy (Birmingham 2010-11). They did not make it out of their Europa League Group stage the following season.
Swansea have an average finish of 10th. Won a major trophy. Got to the knockout stages of the Europa League.
We have certainly grown as a club and stand up there with some of the bigger clubs in English football for actually avhieving things rather than just saying we should for no apparent reason

As the above shows, most of the similar sides to us in terms of being financially sound have all bounced back from relegation either back to the Premier League or become good Championship sides, although we have been more successful than them all so think that will stand us in good stead.
