Wantaway Cardiff midfielder admits desire to leave for Championship rivals

Tuesday 18th April 2017

By Jordon Jones

Ipswich Town loanee Emyr Huws has admitted that he would like to rejoin the Tractor Boys in the summer when his current loan-deal expires.

Both Mick McCarthy and Emyr Huws have made no illusions of Huws remaining at Portman Road and it could mean that Emyr Huws’ time at Cardiff City will have come to an abrupt end, with his last appearance being a 2-1 defeat to Fulham in the FA Cup back in January.

Speaking to Ipswich Town’s Official website after scoring in stoppage time in Ipswich’s 3-1 home victory over Newcastle United, Huws said of his intent of staying with Ipswich, where he has enjoyed more playing time.

“The staff, the place; everything. I’m really enjoying being at the Club. I don’t know what will happen at the end of the season yet and I’m just taking each day as it comes, but hopefully I can be playing here next season if things work out.”

Ipswich Town fans have been impressed with Huws’ performances this season and this was shown when he won the Man of the Match award on his debut appearance for Ipswich in a 2-2 home draw with Reading.

Huws has worked well alongside fellow Welsh international Tom Lawrence, linking up with his countryman numerous times.

A pity if Hughes can't get on with Warnock. All you have to do with Warnock is work hard and give all you have got and if that's not enough, or not skilful enough then he won't pick you.

You would think every pro footballer would want to do that and give it a go. They should also see that if Neil backs you you become a better player and everyone's a winner, so you would think he would have wanted to give it a go.

A pity Warnock didn't fancy him, would have been good to see Tom Lawrence here with Warnock too, at least he would have played him in the right positions

He works you like a dog and doesn't want you to express yourself in a "modern" way. You play to a system get stuck in and doesn't care if you get hurt.

I'd rather play for Zola ;)

nothing modern about skill. if anything the workhorse way is modern with managers demanding more and more running and less and less thought.
i understand managers who have up an at em mentalities, or park the bus and try to win on a breakaway or set piece. what i totally dont get is fans who prefer it to seeing players that can do special things.

Huws is precisely one of the types of player we need next season. He is a City player and if McCarthy can get the best out of him so can Warnock.

He has quality that is untapped, he shone at Huddersfield last season and doing well at Ipswich; both championship teams.

Incidentally the fact he is welsh is not entirely immaterial.

I would be disappointed if he was let go.

Now Pilkington, he can go anywhere he likes - he is not what we need next season.

Same for Harris if he is trying to extort a better deal. Yes he is entitled to a better contract but he cannot hold City to ransom. Tip to the young man from NW, "you have come on well this season but the grass is not greener. You won't find a manager like me to help you along."

Noone. I would keep him unless a silly offer came in. He is slowing up but has that occasional bit of quality which could be useful off the bench.

Whittingham
. Keep him if he accepts a lower deal. He can be utilised in certain matches or at certain times of matches. He had a good first half v Forest but faded in the 2nd half. There was nobody really to come on for him.

O'Keefe. Move him on.
