Cardiff City v Nottm Forest preview

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock is confident leading scorer Kenneth Zohore will be fit to face Nottingham Forest despite looking "shattered" during Friday's defeat at Sheffield Wednesday.

Zohore played the full 90 minutes at Hillsborough, with Warnock feeling he did not have much option but to leave the 23-year-old Dane on after finding out substitute Rickie Lambert was not fit.

Former England striker Lambert, 35, was struggling with a back problem and it remains to be seen if he will be involved against Forest.

Warnock has promised to make "a few changes" after criticising his side's defending for Wednesday's late winner, and he will hope to have Sol Bamba - missing for the last two matches with a groin injury - available again soon.

Matt Mills will be hoping to start for Nottingham Forest after he lasted just 45 minutes of the 1-0 home defeat to Blackburn on Good Friday.

Central defender Mills was withdrawn at the break with Michael Mancienne coming on as Reds boss Mark Warburton opted for a change in system.

Armand Traore was fit to start against Rovers having struggled with cramp in the clash with Huddersfield.

Danny Fox could come back into the squad having served a one-game ban, while striker Ross McCormack has missed Forest's last four matches and it remains to be seen if he is involved in Wales.

Match facts

Cardiff have been beaten just once in the last nine games in which they've hosted Forest in the league (W5 D3).

Forest have lost five of the last six league meetings with Cardiff, drawing on their last visit to the Cardiff City Stadium.

Rickie Lambert has scored four times in his last three league appearances against Forest.

The only time Neil Warnock has seen one of his sides concede seven goals in a Football League game came against Forest in March 2012, when his Leeds team were hammered 7-3 at Elland Road.

Forest are winless in 11 away league games, their worst run since August 2010 (a run of 12).

Forest "We need to grind out results"

16 Apr 2017

Author: NFFC

Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborn said they need to learn how to grind out results to give themselves a better chance of safety ahead of the trip to Cardiff.

The Reds lost 1-0 to relegation rivals Blackburn on Friday and Osborn is eager to bounce back against Neil Warnock’s side.

He said: “We were sloppy, nowhere near as good as we were last week. They didn’t have too many chances and we have got to learn how to grind results out. We aren’t going to play well every week and we need to learn how to grind results out and we had enough of the ball to do that.

“We have gone away to top teams and played half-decent and they don’t have the best of days but still come away with a result.

“It is massive on Monday away at Cardiff. We have a good squad to use, that’s a positive, so we go there and dust ourselves down over the weekend, look back at what we can improve on and try and get another good performance out of it which we have shown we can do.

“We need to stand up and be counted now. It is bigger than ever and it would be good timing to get a win on Monday.”

Osborn said the confidence is there in the squad to ensure they maintain their Championship status and that they are motivated to secure safety as soon as possible.

He said: “Some of the football we have played has increased our confidence massively. There were just a few of us, myself included, who had an off day on Friday, especially in the first half and we need to make sure that can’t happen.

“The motivation is there. The squad has been really tight-knit and everyone is buying into it. Seeing Blackburn come away with the three points has only motivated us more, if not angered us.

“We need to get the job done, that is why it was so frustrating as it could almost have been put to bed on Friday. It hasn’t, that’s the way it goes, and we need to bounce back and put in a good performance on Monday and do everything we can to get a result there.”

I think Jazz Richards will be hard done by, if he is dropped :(

Are they bringing out a special 'Physio Bench' onto the touchline for Lambert to lie on?? :? :laughing6: :laughing6:

Against the run of play as well.

Hopefully Forest will go for it leaving them open for attack and a second goal for us.
