Warnock - not so clever today

Fri Apr 14, 2017 9:47 pm

I am a big Warnock fan but thought he got a few things wrong today.

Halford was limping badly and playing on one leg for about 15 minutes before they scored and a number of players were underperforming but there was no sign of any substitutions until they scored.

Then he brings on three players who are highly unlikely to be here next season to try to rescue the game!

Halford should have been replaced long before they scored.

Would have also liked to have seen some youth on the bench.

If he's serious about promotion next season he'll have to be a bit more adventurous away from home as we seem to be set up to defend deep and play for a point.

The standard Halford away is getting predictable and if Gunner isn't playing the defensive role is he good enough in the other role?

For a manager should be making Gunnar that solid DM.

I haven't seen anything yet that Halford offers to think he will be a huge benefit to use next season. I hope I'm wrong especially as NW is so successful at this level.

Admittedly Halford is not one of my favourite players and I hope he doesn't stay next season as I can't see what he offers. But we are in the twilight zone for the rest of this season and considering how important the game was to Sheffield W it was pretty predictable that they would take the game to us and we should set up to park the bus.

It was disappointing that we conceded late yet again (how many times is that now this season?) and I agree it is something which needs to be worked on. Playing devils advocate I suppose NW would argue that the game plan was working up to the point that SW scored and changing it might have caused disruption with no obvious replacement available.

Personally I think your right Halford should have been hauled off but I have to also weigh that against all the other times NW has called it right and I have got it wrong

I said in a earlier posting that Warnock seems to have a problem with substitutions and got slated by the usual suspects,I'm glad that you at least can see the same weakness in Warnock's so called tactical ability
