According to a report by BBC Sport, Neil Warnock has confirmed that Sol Bamba is likely to miss the rest of the season through injury.

Sol Bamba picked up a groin injury during last Tuesday’s goalless draw against Barnsley and scans have revealed that the injury will keep him out for a while.

Following an assessment by the medical team, Cardiff fans will be relieved to know that it isn’t as serious as was initially feared and Bamba should return for pre-season.

Warnock brought Sol Bamba in on a free less than a week after taking over as Cardiff manager and the former Leeds star has been a revelation.

The 32-year-old has helped shore things up at the back for the Bluebirds and become a fans’ favourite with some dominant and consistent defensive displays.

Warnock added that Bamba might have a chance of returning before the end of the season and they will reassess him ahead of the final two games.

The Cardiff manager said:

“We’ve assessed him now and we think he’ll be out for the season.

“He did train yesterday but not fully.

“The only chance he has in the last couple of games, if any chance.

“At first we thought that he could be out for months.

“It’s not severe as we first thought.

“He was chirpy yesterday.”
