Joe Bennett has the right stuff

So while Bluebirds' players, coaches and pundits can put emphasis on 'playing for next season' or 'earning your future', the words can sometimes feel hollow.

It's clear some players have turned down their intensity, with focus maybe switching to preserving fitness or leaving energy in the tank.

Not Joe Bennett. The full back is patently desperate to earn a spot in the XI next term. And judging from these recent performances, he'd be difficult to budge.

Bennett's lung-busting run down the left and well-timed cross for Junior Hoilett should have been rewarded with a goal. But the left back's overall play was neat, tidy and dynamic.

Special mention too for Bennett's fellow full back Jazz Richards, who was defensively sound as well as an attacking option.

I'm a big fan of Bennett, I hope Warnock thinks he is defensively strong enough and keeps him.

Must be watching a different game to me.

The guy is a liability and positionally one of the worst full-backs I've ever seen at this level.

Constantly leaves his position just following his man wherever he goes, be that centre-back or into midfield, and leaves his space completely open which Harris or usually Ralls have to cover.

Nearly cost us 2 goals today because he'd wandered into midfield and they got in behind down his side. But I'm sure fans will overlook it because he's good on the ball and decent going forward.

Worst you seen at this level really? How many games have you seen at this level?

I'd say he is better than Malone and Taylor and that's just city never mind the amount of other teams.

Lots. Worst positionally than the 2 you just named by a long way. Better technically though.

Just watch how many times he wanders out of position leaving a massive gap down his side which leads to dangerous attacks. That's all I'll say.

Yes he is stronger going forward and does leave gaps but so do a lot of fullbacks. Imo Taylor far worse and I've seen much much worse when we have played teams.

The fact he isn't the strongest defensively is why I believe Warnock might move him on.

Good debate, Scott is correct with regards positional play but not worst seen. He's very good on ball and has heart, not 100% if am honest but could be a great full back if he works on his defence duties which I think he is.
