City fielded a strong team and had a not so good first-half, Warnock talk at half-time did the business and City got the three points :bluebird: :bluebird:

Neil Warnock fielded a strong Cardiff City team today.

For me Bruno Manga has been solid, Kenneth Zohore has run his socks off and Sean Morrison improved.

The first half was even steven's,but Cardiff went to sleep and gave away a sloppy goal to Brentford over all not a good half by Cardiff.

Cardiff were a bit flat and Warnock surely will have had words.

Second-half there was a great response by Cardiff after the break.... what did Neil Warnock say to them :bluebird:

CARDIFF CITY 2 BRENTFORD 1 :thumbright: :bluebird:
Cardiff Scorers Morrison 47th min, 78th min Whittingham

http://www.annisabraham.co.uk/2017/04/0 ... ock-today/ :bluebird:

Cardiff City
McGregor, Richards, Manga, Morrison, Bennett, Harris, Gunnarsson, Whittingham, Ralls, Hoilett, Zohore.
Subs: Murphy, Connolly, John, Halford, Noone, Pilkington, Lambert.

Crowd 15,861
Away support

The early chances were to Cardiff City.

In the 23rd min Junior Hoilett missed a sitter shooting the ball over the bar.

Brentford started to come in to it and had a 10 min decent spell and the longer the game went on Brentford looked more likely to score.

McGregor in the 40th min made an excellent save :bluebird: :bluebird:

In the 41st min
Sergi Canos scored for Brentford and his side were down to 10 men after an injury. The Bluebirds were cut open then and that was sloppy by Cardiff City 0-1

Brentford looked the better team now.

The first half was even steven's,but Cardiff went to sleep and gave away a sloppy goal to Brentford.

Cardiff were a bit flat and Warnock surely will have had words.

H/T Cardiff City 0 Brentford 1

Great second-half start by Cardiff ,Whittingham’s corner was nodded home by Morrison at the back post 1-1 :bluebird: :bluebird:

Cardiff were pressing for a second and they look far more likely to score than Brentford :ayatollah:

For me Bruno Manga has been solid, Kenneth Zohore has run his socks off and Sean Morrison improved.

The last 15 mins was end-to-end and the game was wide opens up.

Zohore and Ralls passed to each other Harris pulled it across where Whittingham was waiting and bang 2-1 City :bluebird: :bluebird:

Cardiff had their backs to the wall for the last five minutes.

F/T Cardiff City 2 Brentford 1 :bluebird:

MY MAN OF THE MATCH BRUNO MANGA SOLID :thumbright: :bluebird:

Well done Cardiff. Much, much better in the second half and it was out out there. I always feel for Gunnarsson in weather like this :bluebird: :bluebird:

A goal and am assist for Whitts. Makes you wonder if warnock could find a way to bring out his best or is his time here really over?

For me though Whitts can't do it week in week out.

Max wage £8,000 a week for next season :thumbright:

Very happy with the second half from the team today.Brentford are well known to be a very good passing side and they played some really nice football to be fair. Whittingham was excellent second half and certainly didn't play like someone just going through the motions.Another game we would have lost under previous managers. In Neil we trust :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Yes Brentford a good footballing side, so a very good win :bluebird:

Maybe, maybe not, but the guy still oozes class and can win games. Ralls can't touch him for creativity and he was the difference between winning and losing the game today.
I'm not bothered if he gets £8,000 or £12,000 personally as I'm not paying but I truly hope he stays.

The positive thing is that Whitts doesn't really want to move from either the club or his Penarth home (why would he?) and would accept a reasonable deal that will see him into the last years of his career...

Hopefully, common ground can be found and the City legend stays! :ayatollah:

Final whistle and Neil Warnock tells his players to acknowledge the fans, which (as always) they do...with the exception of one Anthony Pilkington, who acknowledged absolutely no one and ran straight down the tunnel...

Came on as a substitute late on, so I'm guessing he wasn't tired at the end

Of course, it could be 'date night' at home! ;) :D

I hope Warnock had a bit of a blast at half time.

A few of them looked as if they'd come on the pitch in their bermuda shorts carrying a deck chair with a view to enjoying the weather!

Much improved second half though!

Whitts is currently on £20,000 plus a week.

But Whitts is getting older , legs tired and not consistent .
Warnock only has a small budget.

NW said shortly after he arrived that his biggest challenge was finding the best way of getting Whitts into the team. In his post match interview NW talked about the need to get "Legs" around Whitts, today that was Harris and Hoilett, but in the first half both didn't really provide Whitts with the support he needed. It was different in the 2nd half and Whitts came more to the fore and after winning his battle with the ginger player, Woods, it was fitting that Whitts scored the winning goal and was voted fans man of the match.

We shouldn't however forget the fantastic shifts Ralls and Gunnarsonn put in as both ran themselves to a standstill, and in the 2nd half the movement and intensity of both Harris and Hoilett was great.

I can't see Whitts starting against Wednesday, Halford will replace him, but against Forest I can see NW trying the same tactics as today.

As regards the contract situation I really believe it will be resolved, NW knows he has real quality in Whitts, quality that will cost a huge amount of money to replace.

Rocket at half time from Warnock. Much better 2nd half.

The ref today was shocking. Never gave us anything. The worst decision was when he gave offside against us and allowed their player to take the free kick in our half.

That just about summed up his performance!

Re: A STRONG CARDIFF TEAM/NEEDED A TELLING FROM WARNOCK TODA

The ref was indeed shocking throughout the game.
However regarding the positioning of a free kick for offside being in our own half the rule was changed at the start of the season where if a player is flagged for coming back from an offside position the free kick shall be taken from when he was penalised even if that is in his own half.

Former referee David Ellery states “Part of the law book says when players commit an offside offence you give a free-kick where the offence occurred. The other part of the law book says you give a free-kick where the player was when he was in the offside position. So a player can actually move 20 yards from being in an offside position … and it is only the moment he plays the ball that he is penalised. The law tells you to give the free-kick in two different places.

“So, in future, the free-kick will always be given where he commits the offside offence, even if he is in his own half, because you cannot be in an offside position in your own half, but you can go back into your own half to commit an offside offence.”

I know what his current wages are reported to be but to replace his class and creativity on 8,000 is almost impossible. That's why I'm not bothered if he's offered 10-12,000 grand on a one or two year contract especially considering all the wages we continue to waste on other players.
No, I don't think he will play every week but will consistently do a job when Warnock picks him due to the tactics involved game per game.

Whitts like I say is class on his day,but can only perform in my opinion say one in three games.

My worry is Warnock only has a small budget and Warnock likes players to be available and able to give everything for every game,

Don't agree with your first sentence Annis but I agree with your second.
I'm sure Warnock loves him when he performs like yesterday as without him I doubt we'd have won but I'm not convinced he wants him to stay.

All about opinions, but if you watch Warnock and the last few managers have all dropped Whitts to give him a kick up the backside as I believe Whitts is very laid back.
