ESPN FC: In the summer of 2014, you were an in-form free agent.

Macheda:

"Cardiff City, who'd just been relegated from the Premier League, offered me a three-year contract under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It was a big club and Ole really wanted me. I had offers from three clubs in Serie A -- Palermo and Atalanta for sure -- but I wanted to play in the English leagues where I had been doing well again."

"The contract was great, but then I got injured in preseason and missed the first eight games. I scored when I came back on my debut. Then Ole got sacked and the new manager Russell Slade started to get rid of the players on big contracts, who Ole had signed. Russell wanted me to stay and I did OK under him."

"Then the back injury returned; a slipped disc pushing on my nerve. The pain was terrible. After an operation I went back but had no chances. A loan to Forest followed, but I wasn't fully fit to play. I started the first three games but was exhausted after 55 minutes. Cardiff paid up my contract in August 2016."

Terrible player with a piss poor attitude....exhausted after 55 minutes my arse...he's a professional athlete in his mid twenties the least he should be is fit to last ninety minutes.

You feel there would always have been something wrong with Macheda and he would always think he was unlucky.
He knows where the goal is, but his body never seemed to up to regular games at a decent level.
Like all City players you want them to succeed but it never seemed like it would happen for Federico.

10 goals in 10 league starts for Brum, plus 8 appearances as a sub.
6 goals in 13 league starts for City, plus 14 appearances as a sub - and a couple of cup games.

In total 46 league starts in 10 years !!!!! plus 67 appearances as a sub with 23 goals.

We as a club have been well know for overpaying on wages for a long long time.

Yes our fault for giving a big contract to a player still living off one good game for Manchester United. Macheda didn't help himself though,terrible attitude.

Pardon? the topic was Macheda, I know we have paid over the odds for players but to say 'don't blame the player' is nonsense as a professional footballer he should have kept himself at a reasonable level of fitness and left the ' can't be arsed ' attitude at home.

If we start the blame game on managers paying too much, well there's a few more besides Ole but I better not mention the Messiah had I ?
