Barry Town are top of the Welsh Football League Division One

Prestatyn Town will play in the Welsh Premier League (WPL) just months after they survived a winding up petition.

Prestayn fans raised £53,000 for the runaway leaders in the Cymru Alliance feeder league and now they have been granted an FAW domestic licence.

The Welsh Football League Division One leaders Barry Town United were awarded the licence for a second season.

The former WPL winners will return to the top tier for the first time since 2004 if they finish in the top two.

Also at the Football Association of Wales licensing meeting, all existing WPL clubs were awarded the Domestic Licence, but Rhyl and Airbus UK Broughton were refused the UEFA Licence.

I'd like to see Llanelli Town make it back in as well.

Their fans have a top chant to a foul
"Blatant disregard for the rules!"

And Cwmbran Town.

I really wish the WPL would go to a summer league and give me something to do in the barren months between May and August.

Barry lost today but so did their nearest rivals so they need just 7 more points from 4 games by my counting to get promoted.

Regarding the fans singing - they have about 15 different songs, probably more, mostly humourous, and all original - and anyone who disses them should go along and watch them play and her them sing.
Not in Division two either. They won that last season at a canter.

Proper football by a proper club with proper fans.

Tuesday after next - home match at Jenner Park will possibly see them promoted, so get along and watch. Only a fiver. Bar open, beer less than £3, and free parking.
