I am a massive defender of our fans and our support in general but there are times when you have to hold your hands up in the air and say 'our support is terrible' at times and tonight is one of those times.
Irrespective of League position and whether it is a nothing game, to take just over 150 fans away for a Club like ours is absolutely appalling. Whilst not on our doorstep granted its not a 'massive' trip and will probably be done in around the 3 hour mark.
You would have thought there would be a good few exiles living in and around Yorkshire, parts of the Midlands and the North in general that are within 45 minutes to an hour away from Barsnley, add them on top of the Supporters Club who take at least 1 coach everywhere and then other independent travelers you would expect us to take 4-500 minimum ANYWHERE.
Obviously I haven't gone myself tonight so don't want to sound like to much of a hypocrite but I did all these trips in the 90's and we used to take a hell of lot more when in the lower leagues, remember going to Rotherham for a nothing game in either Division 2 or 3 on a Tuesday night with about 500/600 there.
174 for a side that is the only side in our capital city, in the second tier of english football with our catchment area is an absolute embarrassment and can be dressed up in no other way.

Wigan might have been in the Premier, but they are a very very very small club.

If you think about it they should take a decent number as they are still playing for their lives, whereas Cardiff are playing for next season, so really Wigan should have taken a few more.

Funny, I do agree with you on that, but when we were fighting for our lives our fans made out thats why our away support was crap![]()
To me,when your either fighting for your lives or challenging to go up,then those are the most exciting times for football fans![]()

Theres no grounds to call us a big club at all other than 'ifs, buts and maybe's', we are the 'sleeping giant' that never woke up.
I remember all the talk of how we would sell Ninian Park out week in week out if we got to 'Division 1/Championship' and played the likes of Wolves and Forest every week and would need a bigger ground and it never happened, we were down to 11/12,000 after one season.
All those years waiting for Wembley and apart from the FA Cup Final when we only got 25,000 did we ever emphatically sell out our allocations, not how I remember it, loads and loads of tickets floating around for all the games, tickets even went on general sale for the Carling Cup Final and Play Off final almost right up until just before the games.
Then we had Palace in the semi final and took 2,500 when we could have had 4,000+ whilst we gave them 4,500-5,000 and they sold the lot yet you would probably still have people who will have you believe we are far bigger than Palace.
Even in the Premiership we were mickey mouse, I only went to Stoke, Hull and Swansea and we only sold out the Jacks, 1,500 to Stoke, 900 to Hull, if I remember rightly we didn't actually sell out for Man City, loads of tickets floating about for Utd, don't think we sold out Everton, took 1500 to Southampton if I remember, 1200 to Newcastle, 1,000 to Sunderland, not good is it?
