Rickie Lambert won't this season be able to go on a run of games starting, might be able to make the odd couple of substitutions.

Lambert is not only struggling with back problems he has a couple of other niggling injuries.

For me we really can't depend on Lambert for next season if we are serious about being promotion candidates.

Cardiff City are still paying Lamberts £25,000 plus a week wages, not what some on here are saying that insurance is paying it.

The insurance would only pay out if Rickie Lambert retired from football due to his injuries.

But Cardiff City did sign Lambert from WBA knowing he was unfit and was carrying niggling injuries.

Rickie Lambert said recently.

Lambert: "I’m 35years old, and I’m still bearing the scars from my own career. My right foot, neck, hip. The war wounds haven’t gone away more than a decade on."

Lambert: "I have not been playing a lot recently, but all I want to do is score goals" Lambert stated on his arrival at Cardiff City.

But in my opinion Rickie Lambert has been a shadow of himself for many years.

Rickie Lamberts contract runs out June 2018.

An unbelievable waste of money.

Even if he gets fit for next season he'll offer nothing to a team looking to get promotion.

Credit to the club for backing Trollope by signing him - but then the club made a massive mistake by appointing Trollope!

I agree its a waste of money but it happens in football, especially with older players looking for a pay day. We have had our fair share of strikers at City over the last decade that have cost us a hell of a lot with little return.

I still think IF he could stay fit then he has more to offer than the other striking options with the exception of Zohore. Ideally he would be moved on in the summer but that's easier said than done.

Turning out to be another poor signing.

In fact why did we sign him? Desperation?

We are now or have been for a season or so trying to cut our cloth. Then we bring this into the club.

Beats we what is going on.

I would say Amos was a desperate signing.

I think Lambert was Trollopes number 1 target from the start and its hard for the club to not back him with that after just appointing him.

Luke, But to pay a player £25,000 plus a week and he was unfit and injured to me is madness.

As to Amos, thats another mad signing.

We just never seem to learn.

I honestly believe we have now turned that corner under Neil Warnock :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Good points Luke.

in that case shows what an even worse appointment Trollope was.

Could never understand why we appointed someone who had been sacked from a club about to be relegated to the bottom division. As far as Lambert is concerned, I said at the time he was signed that he would never get into double figures with goals, and would spend a lot of time out injured. Unfortunately, this will be the norm between now and the time he decides to call it a day. If anything, he will probably be more injury prone and take longer to recover as time goes on, age is not kind to sportsmen.

A fully fit Lambert will be a great option off the bench next season

Will he ever be fit enough to do himself justice?? Probably not...so likely to be another in a long, long list of expensive flops

Terrible shame for Lambert, I was quite excited with his arrival. Financially a desperately bad gamble for City, ken Choo feeding him a BIG MAC meal at 11pm on deadline day just makes laugh/cry.

35 years old riddled with injuries and stealing a living.
cant even send him out on loan like we did with ALF , Huws etc to at least save some of the cash.

Sadly Agree .

Might be getting cynical in old age but it seems quite a few players don't care if they play or not as long as the money rolls in, will sit on the bench or treatment table rather than go out on loan. Huws being an exception even paying some wages himself, a rare breed these days.
And please no replies about ' ah well they got to earn a living, its a short career etc etc, disgusting money being paid just to kick a ball about. Game is rotten right to the core.

Right, I'm off to the dentist/ :(

Speaking as if he's being assessed for PIP.
