Aron Gunnarsson's condition will be assessed after manager Neil Warnock's attack on the Iceland set-up for asking the midfielder to play the full 90 minutes of their friendly against the Republic of Ireland four days earlier.

Peter Whittingham, Craig Noone and Anthony Pilkington will be under consideration if Warnock decides to freshen his side up, while Greg Halford and Matthew Connolly are fit again after recent lay-offs.

Rickie Lambert could miss out again alongside long-term casualties Lee Peltier and Rhys Healey.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock may make changes to his side after they were defeated 3-1 by Wolves on Saturday.

Greg Halford and Matthew Connolly may come back for the Bluebirds, having been passed fit after being sidelined.

' Barnsley's injuries '

Barnsley full-back Andy Yiadom will have a scan after suffering a suspected dislocated shoulder in Saturday's 1-1 draw against Sheffield Wednesday.

Defenders Gethin Jones (illness) and Callum Elder (thigh) could both return for the Tykes on Tuesday.

The Stadium

Approximately three sides of the ground were redeveloped in the 1990's. On one side is the particularly attractive two-tiered covered East Stand running along one side of the pitch. Opened in March 1993, this stand has a capacity of 7,500. Opposite is the classic looking West Stand, part of which dates back to 1904.

It was made all seated in the mid 1990's, but is only covered at the rear. On its roof is perched an ugly precarious looking television gantry which obscures a probably more attractive gable. At the Pontefract Road End (now named the CK Beckett Stand) is an all seated, covered stand for home supporters, which has a capacity of 4,500. This stand was opened in 1995.

The other end, the North Stand, was previously an open terrace, but is now a relatively new single tier, covered stand, housing 6,000 fans. This is the most recent addition to the ground being opened in 1999 and has greatly enhanced the overall look of Oakwell. The North Stand is shared between home and away supporters.

The amount of seats given to away supporters varies according to demand. An unusual feature of the stadium is a purpose built stand for disabled supporters. This is a three floor structure that sits at the corner between the East & South Stands. There is also an electric scoreboard at one corner of the North Stand, on top of a security control room. The teams come out from one corner of the ground between the North and West Stands.

Away fans are housed in the new North Stand, where the facilities are good. The normal allocation for away supporters is 2,000 tickets although, if demand requires it, then the whole of this stand can be allocated (6,000).

' BARNSLEY '

THE OPPOSITION

Barnsley, managed by Paul Heckingbottom, have been on a difficult run of late and are without a win since a 3-1 victory over Aston Villa in mid February.

Since then, the Tykes have lost four and drawn three of their last seven games. They finished March with a 2-0 loss to Norwich City at Carrow Road but bounced back on Saturday with a battling performance at home to Play-Off-chasing Sheffield Wednesday.

Sam Winnall left Barnsley for Wednesday in January and is still the Tyke’s top scorer with eleven league goals. The striker put his new team ahead in the second half but the Owls were denied the three points by an injury time equaliser by defender Angus Macdonald to make it 1-1.

Despite losing Winnall in January, the Tykes bolstered their squad with the introduction of Ryan Hedges and Alex Mowatt on permanent deals from Swansea City and Leeds United respectively, as well as securing the loan signings of Matty James, Gethin Jones and Callum Elder.

CLUB CONNECTIONS

Stephen McPhail turned out for both clubs during his career and recently returned to South Wales to play in Kevin McNaughton’s Benefit Match. The Irishman arrived at Barnsley from Leeds United in 2004 before leaving to join Cardiff in 2006, after helping the Tykes win promotion to the Championship.

Also playing in Superkev's Benefit Match was Michael Chopra, who scored seventeen goals when on loan at Oakwell from Newcastle in 2004/05.

Neil Warnock joined Barnsley from Aldershot in 1976 and played over fifty games for club in a two-year spell before moving to York City.

Other players to have represented both the Bluebirds and the Tykes include Danny Drinkwater, Tony Warner and Liam Lawrence.

Barnsley pair Gethin Jones and Callum Elder are hoping to return to contention for the home game against Cardiff.

Jones missed Saturday's home draw with Sheffield Wednesday due to illness, while a thigh injury has kept fellow defender Elder sidelined for three matches.
Andy Yiadom is unlikely to feature after a shoulder injury forced him off at the weekend.
Head coach Paul Heckingbottom has no other new injury or suspension problems but defender Aidy White (pelvis) and midfielder Sessi D'Almeida (knee) are still out.
Cardiff could make changes after Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Wolves.

' NEIL WARNOCKS CARDIFF TEAM TODAY TRAINED IN A BARNSLEY PARK '

Cardiff City's hectic schedule continues with a trip to Oakwell tonight where they face Paul Heckingbottom's Barnsley.

Neil Warnock will be looking for a reaction from his players after a disappointing 3-1 defeat at Wolves last weekend.

The Cardiff boss has thrown down the gauntlet to his squad to earn their places in next season's promotion charge, starting by training them in a nearby Barnsley park in the match build-up.

The phrase "dead rubber" has been thrown around about this mid-table battle, but Warnock doesn't know the meaning of those words. He'll want to win against the club he played for 57 times in the 1970s.

Got to love NW as he is doing exactly what he said he would do - Experiment.

Manga & Bamba are a great choice in my opinion and hopefully a lot more intensity than Saturday with Noone & John playing wide. Fancy Pilkington getting a goal tonight.

Captain Sol

Five changes from Neil Warnock.

Sean Morrison is on the bench which means Sol Bamba takes the armband. There’s also chances for Matt Connolly, Anthony Pilkington, Greg Halford and Craig Noone. Bruno Manga keeps his place.

Cardiff will need to find their own motivation after something of a flat performance at Wolves.

A scattering of City away fans in their seats so far.

Great to see this line-up and hopefully it should give one or two the opportunity to shine before the big decisions are made come the end of the season (if some decisions haven't already been made) ;)

Tykes on top early

Quick-fire Barnsley attack down Cardiff’s right hand side and a shot from Hammill is deflected off the thigh of Bamba behind for a corner. Now a scramble that Bamba does well to move away.

Alex Mowatt almost in there.

Barnsley nearly lead inside a minute. Good work from Janko wins a corner, which is scrambled away off the line

First chance for Zohore to run at Marc Roberts.

Barnsley get it away eventually for a Cardiff throw. A frenetic start at Oakwell.
