Warnock picks the team and the tactics

Sun Apr 02, 2017 11:54 am

Our Neil gets off scot free again........He picks the team and tactics after watching them in training.

A back four, three stoppers with little creativity in the midfield, two wingers who rarely score or assist with an in bloom striker.

I love Warnock and have renewed, but i don't don't see the embers of a promotion pushing team yet.

I do like 433, but we need a passer in the midfield, it appears Whitts doesn't cover the grass enough for Warnock, but replacing him with Bamba or Halford isn't the answer.

IMO- I would let Holiett and Harris leave, we need far more of a goal threat. I would love Tom Lawrence back on a perm. I would also love a jonny Williams as a 10, but can't see Warnock playing a dot like that.

Only certs to be starting next season- Bamba, Peltier, Gunnar, Ralls, Zohore. Lots of comings and goings required this summer

Agree with almost everything you say. Bamba in front of the back four worked well against Villa but yesterday he was played as a more orthodox midfielder and it's fair to say it certainly didn't work!

Strange decision to bring Whitts on - he's really become a luxury player now and yesterday won't have done anything to change the view that he's unlikely to be anything more than a bit player next season, if he's even here then.

Agree about the wingers although I'd keep Kadeem at the right wages. I understand what you say about Lawrence but for me Jonny Williams has shown nothing in his career to date to suggest that he has the quality needed for a team challenging for promotion.

Agree with your certs for next season except Peltier, who again for me is a decent, mid table defender but no more.

Think we need two new full backs if aiming for a top 6 finish.

yes he does, and it works.
when we lose like we did yesterday its hard to take much else from our performance and easy to pick out negatives, there are plenty that are less visible/or easier forgiven when we get results.
but we scored, Gunner should have put us 2.1 up and Noone almost scored. goals of course not only change the scoreboard but also what shape the game then takes.
my point is we were in it against an in form Wolves team picking up their 4th straight win which included Fulham away. and this is better than the games that were 90 minutes of nothingness pre Warnock.
as for formations it really isnt the numbers its the personel and instructions given that make any set of numbers work/be excitting /or be negative.teams shouldnt be picked to fit magic numbers .the numbers should fit what suits the players available/chosen.
