' NEIL WARNOCK TARGETS HIS NEW GOALIE '

Lee Camp is a Free Agent this Summer and was Warnocks Goalie in the past.

Neil Warnock worked with Lee Camp during his time at Rotherham and reports claim he hopes to sign the goalkeeper in the summer

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock is targeting a summer swoop for Rotherham United goalkeeper Lee Camp who will be avaialble on a free agent, according to reports.

The pair previously worked together during Warnock's time in charge of the Millers last season as the Yorkshireman guided the club to safety in the Championship.

Former Northern Ireland international Camp's contract with the south Yorkshire outfit expires at the end of the season.

And The Sun and The Mail are reporting that Warnock hopes to land the 32-year-old keeper on a free deal in the summer.

Warnock has already stressed his desire to bolster his goalkeeping options after admitting that he won't be able to keep hold of Scot Allan McGregor who is currently on loan from Premier League side Hull.

And Camp could be the ideal candidate to come to his rescue having played a huge role in the Millers' dramatic escape under Warnock last season.

Camp started his career with his hometown club Derby County before joining another of Warnock's former clubs Queens Park Rangers in 2007 via loan spells with Burton Albion, Norwich and the Hoops.

He spent two seasons with QPR before signing for Derby's local rivals Nottingham Forest in 2009 after a loan spell at the City Ground during the 2008/09 campaign.

Camp had brief stints with Norwich, West Brom and Bournemouth before signing for Rotherham in 2015 and has made 18 Championship appearances for the club so far this season.

I rate him, he did well for Rotherham when Warnock took over and he was class for Forest back in the day, good shot stopper and vocal, I'd be happy with this :bluescarf: plus can't be a bit of camp around the camp :laughing5:

Not my first choice.

You could say this is almost a done deal.

Warnock likes to know what he is getting, players who connect with him love returning to play for him.

lets hope not,but it would make sense being free and worked with warnock before

Decent, experienced keeper and probably won't break the bank. The sort we need.

Warnock has said he will sign a couple of goalkeepers so If we do bring Camp in I think he will be No2 wouldn't bet against Marshall coming back.

Exactly the type of player I'm expecting to sign...bags of championship experience, worked with warnock before and not going to break the bank .I think any talk of Marshall returning is clutching at straws to be honest , to expensive and other areas more of a priority

Because the last goalkeeper we signed right after he got relegated from the Championship went well...

Remember him getting Chopra sent off after the final whistle a few years ago when he was playing for QPR.

Always seemed to be a bit full of himself but probably the sort of keeper we'll end up with.

Former Derby County goalkeeper Lee Camp is being linked with a summer move to Cardiff City.

Telegraph

Wednesday 15th March 2017

The former Northern Ireland stopper, who has also played for Nottingham Forest, is out of contract at Rotherham United in the summer, with reports in The Sun suggesting that a reunion with former Millers' boss Neil Warnock may be on the cards.

The pair worked together last season as they performed a dramatic escape from relegation. Warnock then left the New York Stadium in the summer following the expiration of his contract.

Warnock has already stressed his desire to boost the Bluebirds' defence after admitting that he won't be able to keep hold of Scot Allan McGregor, who is currently on loan from Premier League side Hull.

Camp won't play again this season after being ruled out with a knee injury and looks to have played his last game for the South Yorkshire side.

He made 89 appearance for Derby County between 2002-2007, before joining Forest in 2009. He went on to make 163 appearances for the Reds over four years at the City Ground.

Some of our fans already shooting him down before he joins us, its shocking.

We are on a shoe string budget and out to get a decent experienced championship keeper who will want to come and play for Warnock.

Come on lads, lets all sing from the same hymn sheet :bluescarf:

'Goalie' is a great old word. Don't seem to hear it so much these days. 'Keeper' seems more popular.

Didn't we sign Marshall after he had been relegated to league 1 with Norwich?

Doubt he will be able to pull off those saves again. He looks a couple of stones heavier.

I'm a massive Marshall fan and I would love to see him back here but its unlikey. But isn't it great when you have a manager like NW who you trust to get players in that will perform, such as Camp, if indeed there is any truth in this story. And if they don't they're out. In Warnock We Trust. (We need a Warnock smiley Owain).
