BURTON EYE CLUB RECORD SIGNING

14/03/17

Sky Bet Championship side Burton are keen to break their transfer record and sign on-loan Fulham striker Cauley Woodrow for £750,000 this summer, Sky Sports reports.

The 22-year-old has been in good form since his move in January and scored the winning goal against Nottingham Forest on Saturday during a 1-0 victory.

How the hell can Burton afford £750,000? And yet we are skint

Their wage bill is £3.5m while ours is about 8 times that? Our players are incredibly well paid and until we sort that out we will have to cut our cloth accordingly.

Pete and their ground capacity is under 5,500 and they average 4,000 plus and have no big income, it just shows how badly we have been run.
They are one of the smallest clubs in all the Leagues and are like a village compared to us.

We have been run badly but we've also got players on Premier League money, and to compete with Derby, Leeds, Sheff Weds etc we're going to have to continue to pay big wages. If we want to get up, we're going to have to take the risk. We shouldn't compare ourselves with a small club punching massively above their weight, 6 places and 7 points behind us in the league, we need to look at how to go toe to toe with Huddersfield etc and make smart buys and smart sales.

I am not comparing us with little Burton, I am actually saying its sad when clubs like them can afford to pay that type of fee and we can't.
