RUFC - Millers In Talks To Keep Semi

RUFC -

Friday 10th March 2017

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne has told David Beddows of The Rotherham Advertiser that Semi Ajayi would like to stay with the Millers.

Impressing since he joined the Millers on loan from Cardiff City at the end of January, the twenty-three year old has made seven appearances scoring once.

'Semi has settled in here and done really well,' Warney said, 'and I've spoken to the lad and he would like to stay.

'I feel at times that he needs to be a little bit more aggressive and vocal but he's got all the tools you'd want from a centre-half.

'The move has done him good and benefited us and we are trying to nail his services by trying to put a competitive package together that he will sign.

'Obviously his performances are getting attention from other clubs which is always the case when you get people on loan.'

Rumours have been going round that neighbours Sheffield United are keeping an eye on Ajayi and there's bound to be others. So let's hope we stick to our guns and offer him a good deal.

Yes he has got all the tools so why don't we keep him and let Warnock improve him? Perhaps this report is wishful thinking on Rotherham's part. Let's hope so. We are clearly broke so he could save us a £1m or so on a new centre half. :bluescarf:

To be honest, if the club get a fee and a sell on clause, i wouldnt complain if we let him go.
I think the club need to get a team for now and not hang on to players just in case they develop for the future.
Let the future of the club be developed by Bellamy and the development team.

Fees for Huws, Kennedy, Ajayi, okeefe and Saadi and with Manga, Lambert, Gunongbe, John and possibly Whitts off the high wage bill, that will release enough money for Warnock to work his magic for the promotion push without affecting any of the current matchday squad

if Carlsburg did transfers eh.
at least 3 of those are out of contract= no fee
best chance of getting shot of ricky lambert is if warner bros are re making the mummy and are desperate to have him play the role
others are on inflated wages and we are actually paying for them to play at other clubs.

Ajeyi is out of contract at the end of the season, so there's no chance of us getting a fee for him and we've no more chance of getting him signed up for next season than anyone else.

I think he's as good as gone, shame as he's be decent cover and may develop into a good player in time
