SOUNDS LIKE HES LETTING PLAYERS HAVE ENOUGH ROPE TO HANG THEMSELVES

Blackburn equaliser 'my own fault', says Cardiff boss Warnock

Cardiff boss Neil Warnock blamed himself for Blackburn's late leveller at Ewood Park as the hosts' unbeaten start under Tony Mowbray continued.

08/03/17

The Bluebirds were on course to take all three points back home when Kenneth Zohore slammed in his seventh goal in his past eight appearances six minutes before the interval.

Yet, with Rovers' Championship relegation rivals Wigan, Bristol City, Wolves and Burton all picking up at least a point, Derrick Williams got on the end of Connor Mahoney's last-minute cross to earn the hosts a share of the spoils in a crucial 1-1 draw that keeps them two points clear of trouble.

Warnock only named six substitutes and took responsibility for the equaliser, having introduced Declan John and Craig Noone from the bench, both of whom he felt were culpable in Williams' goal.

Before the game you'd have taken a point, wouldn't you. It's my own fault - I put the subs on. We didn't have any choice tonight, many subs, and two of them cost us the goal.

Declan should have stopped the cross, Nooney's with his man. You live and learn, don't you? That's what we're doing - learning about next season and who you want on board.

– Neil Warnock, Cardiff City Manager

The Yorkshireman had already ruled his mid-table team out of making a late surge into the play-offs at the weekend, but says he's confident that a side that were second bottom when he arrived in October will be contenders in the division next term.

I think it was Annis who said on here, a few weeks back that John is on £5,000 a week, if that's true, he HAS to go in the summer, first off he's not good enough for this level, and if that's true, that's what, £20k a month, over 1 year, £240,000 a year, theres money saved

Yes he is on that and I thought he would male it,it really is time to get rid :thumbright:

But what about Rickie Lambert £25,000 a week since last August, what the hell is going on? we signed an injury prone, unfit player :o

Costing us a fortune and Ben Amos, £16,000 a week :o

My argument would be in John's defence that he being played slightly out of position and isn't getting enough game time !

If John doesn't fit the bill of playing a more natural position then fair enough but managers continue to play him in the position he's not comfortable .

That I agree with, but surely by now one of our managers would of done something about it,I have heard its more than that, attitude as well it changed?

i see your point but he isnt the first player to have this reality check. in fact you could go through our team/squad..Amos promising at Man U, Huws was well thought of at Citeh, connolley started career at Arsenal, pilks at a year at united while a junior. etc. they all had to re adjust their thinking

I like Warnock but I don't think it's good management to name and shame your players in the media .It all can be done behind closed doors on a one to one basis.

Manager spot on, I was at the game last night both players looked as though they didn't want to be there, Granted it was cold and they had to come off the bench but both were poor.
Declan's lack of effort in not trying to stop the cross and Noone loosing his man for the goal.
Not Warnocks type of player 110% or it will be the door and rightly so.

John has never been good enough, not sure why he is still here to be honest. Noone I like but this isn't the first time Warnock has said something about Noone so I expect he will go as well.

Plenty of deadwood to go to reduce the wage bill.
Amos is no problem he was needed when we signed him but his loan will finish. Lambert will be more of a problem but not impossible to get rid of, we wont be the first or the last club in the world to panic buy a player.

Perhaps that is the only way he can (might) get a reaction! ;)

Warnock is known to be a pretty good man manager and 'honest' players (Bamba and Hoillett are good current examples) seem to 'want' to play for him

Nooney has taken a bit of stick from the manager previous to last night and (for a while at least) he got a reaction

Declan has been sidelined by successive managers and, in fairness to Neil Warnock, he has given him a couple of run outs and last night he (NW) felt that Declan didn't do the job he was asked to do in his brief time on the pitch

Out of position? Maybe, but it still remains that Declan doesn't seem to be in Neil Warnock's long-term plans and that is probably backed by Kevin Blackwell and Ronnie Jepson. I'm sure they talk to each other now and then! :laughing6:

£5k a week doesn't sound much in football terms but when you consider he has now spent the last three years being paid £250k pa to keep fit (I can do that at Llanishen Centre for £34 pm) and sit on a bench in his fleece onesie during games, if he is lucky, then I reckon there are more worthy youngsters coming through who just might have the skills and alleged attitude to get in there and make the grade

It certainly beats a 12 hour shift in McDonald's or similar for the minimum wage! :ayatollah:

Declan is nowhere near good enough for the championship' nooney has not performed since the premiere under malky. Time to get rid of. Lambert is finished and has been for 3 years . But cuts still to come. Play Usain Bolt up front with zahore now he has bought the club.

Agree on the first point

Not sure about 'Pilks' and I'm guessing it will depend on who NW can get in to replace and the wages involved. Not a bad player and certainly worth a place in the squad but not sure NW sees him as a regular in the First Team :ayatollah:
