' NEWPORT COUNTY ARE DOOMED '

Sat Mar 04, 2017 5:12 pm

Newport County Rock bottom of the Leagues, lost at home to Leyton Orient who were one place above them 0-4 at home

Non League Football next season I can only see for them and last time it took them 24 years to get back in the League.

Not a Newport County lover, but a little sad to see after all those years trying to get back. But do the public deserve league football in Newport, best crowds they get are about 2,000, it's just not good enough. A Town the size of Newport should easily attract crowds of at least 5,000. Even Merthyr in the seventh division of the English pymarid systems are attracting about 1,000 :bluebird:

Bit harsh, it's not all about the crowds. Have no affiliation with them at all, don't dislike them but hope they stay up which looks unlikely.

Wish Wrexham went up instead of them.

Good crowds do play their part (eg: Gate receipts and merchandise sales), but when you look at teams like Bournemouth (circa 12,000) in the Premier League, there are ways to survive too without massive attendances! Good management for one.

Sorry to hear, you were my rivals big time in the 70's and 80's.

But would never want you to go out of the League and have quite a few County friends nowadays.

Not looking good for them - Big 6 pointer today.

They should be thrown out for the state of that pitch.

Most of their fans hate us with a passion, but despite that, you have to feel sympathy for them. They play in a stadium with a shocking pitch and are not wanted there by the egg chasers. Despite being the 2nd biggest urban conurbation in Wales, its support has always been dire and they have a nutter as a manager, they were doomed the moment they appointed him. They would have been better off keeping Feeney. They looked doomed to go down. It's all a shambles.

No sympathy from me to them or any other club. My thoughts to the loyal city fans who loyally followed the club home and away but have sadly died without seeing any tangible success.

Given two more games. A bizzare decision!

Annis do you think Warren was given enough time to turn things around ? Or was it just mission impossible from the start ?

Nukes, Wareen would have to meet a bunch of fans at least once a week in a pub around the table to explain to them what was going on and they would also try and tell him how to manage the team.
It was a nightmare job.
Fans totally running the show, but not football managers.

Bournemouth are a poor example because they've had Russian investment, which all but a few clubs can only dream of!

And we have had Malaysian investment, but with poor management.

Me too, they should bow out of the English pyramid after Relegation and join the WPL, where they`ll fail to compete with TNS for the title, but have a yearly Euro adventure.

it's funny, I was listening to the call rob show a good few months back, and blake was saying that the club sacked the clubs only doctor/physio, and then were asking the fans is anyone a licenced doctor during a game. the club have gotten rid of a lot of backroom people, I believe the club secretary resigned because of how rude and arrogant westley was. and they said on call rob, when they played Stevenage they where losing and Westley started applauding the Stevenage fans, which is disgusting

They treated their Manager Warren Feeney like a kid, their trust use to try and tell him how to manage their team

Their youth policy is a disgrace too. My mate told me last year six lads were kicked out from the academy because representative football came first, namely Cardiff Schools. This totally closes down their catchment area. The policy now is if you want to play for Newport County you can't play representative football. Got to wonder if a certain lad who went to Man Utd was told he couldn't play for Cardiff schools would the club still be going.

i would double check that.
there is a clear pecking order on player priorities and i always thought schoolboy football takes precedence.
and its always been the route to getting schoolboy caps

It's what happened. The so called academy there had coaches who made decisions and had no one to put them straight i.e. the trust who in reality are fans with no idea on how to run a club
