I strongly believe that the Foreign Aid budget rather than being ringfenced should be slashed dramatically and use the money to help our own people.....!!..Britain First !! ...............can't wait for the lefties on here to comment on this

We already give more out in the UK than we do in foreign aid but I agree that we should not be funding countries that have nuclear programmes nor those that the money goes direct into the bank accounts of their corrupt leaders mainly in Africa.
Foreign aid is a lot to do with securing areas for military deployments if needed.
Why we give money endlessly to these countries that have for years had it but nothing changes is beyond me.
Many payments are based on the old Empire related payments all kept hush hush. Prwtty much the same as the payouts to Guantanemo bay detainees.
My humble opinion anyway.

I will always welcome your humble opinion even if I don't always agree with them

I agree that there is too much waste and not enough return on investment on foreign aid.
I have seen first hand the nonsense that often goes on,
I have also seen the tremendous difference that our money is used for when foreign aid programmes get it right.
Overall though I agree in foreign aid as a policy but believe the system needs reforming. We could actually spend much less on foreign aid and see a bigger difference. Why should our money help educate a country's children when the country itself has a mandate to educate it's own children and instead 'eat' the money through corruption. In these kinds of cases I absolutely disagree with foreign aid spending. I would rather us spend less lobbying governments and putting pressure on governments to fulfil their mandate, rather than us doing it
Alternatively I have seen some of the amazing work that our government, and other western governments, have done to help combat AIDS and child protection issues. I also think that some foreign aid programmes do protect us as they are linked to security.
Complex issues though.

Some People moan about cuts in the NHS, Public Services etc but these same people then want us to give away money to these countries that do not deserve it. (Corrupt/Space Programmes etc).
OUR money should be spent at home and handed out as/when deemed necessary/required. We are no longer a world power and yet many expect us to pay this obscene amount.
We are also constantly bombarded with pleas to donate to this charity/that charity - why don't these organisations combine and then greatly reduce their administration costs - oh I forget the guys in charge would not get paid as much.
Personally I do give as I want but for the Govt to have an official amount it HAS to spend is plain stupid.
You can't have it all - charity should begin at home

Wrong attitude for the wanna be brexiteers. We'll be looking to trade with these countries once we are out so the withdrawal for foreign aid would not go down well with them.A real Toryboy would know this as a drastic cut in the FA budget is not too high on the agenda. Its only popular with the numbskull nazi's who fail to understand the complexities of diplomacy.

Would be interesting to know, how much percent people thought our budget is actually spent on Foreign Aid?

From the extensive list of countries that we provide OA to it would really be interesting to know how these sweeteners have helped our overall trade deals in the past? This is the excuse usually given to try and justify us spending this money

I believe the target figure set in the last budget was 0.7% of the total UK expenditure budget.(about £12billion).

But cutting £64billion from vital services in next budget to fight the EU and to have a "war chest" if they don't meet our demands is perfectly fine. I love this country.
