OUT OF CONTRACT & BARGAIN BUYS FOR WARNOCK THIS SUMMER?
Wednesday 01/03/17
The out of contract players and bargain buys Warnock could target this summer as he eyes Cardiff City promotion bid
With Neil Warnock wanting to strengthen his squad in the summer, we take a look at just who could fit the bill for the Bluebirds boss.
While Warnock has turned Cardiff around and got them looking enviously at the play-offs as opposed to nervously over their shoulder, the veteran boss has been consistent in his call for reinforcements this summer.
While not overhauling the squad, Warnock has stated he wants to bring in at least three or four new players at Cardiff City Stadium to compliment his quickly improving current crop of players.
Wayne Hennessey
The Crystal Palace goalkeeper and Wales international is out of contract this summer, and with his recent performances falling below his usual high standard, he may well be available on a free transfer this summer. The 30-year-old may be on Premier League wages, but he would be guaranteed first team football with the Bluebirds and would get the chance to play club football in Wales for the first time. If Cardiff could afford his wages, Hennessey would give Cardiff a consistent and reliable stopper as well as someone with experience of a global tournament and a title winning season in the Championship.
Danny Ward
The Rotherham striker is a player Warnock knows well from his time with the Millers, and Ward has been one of the bright spots in a disastrous campaign for the Yorkshire side. It was reported that Rotherham turned down three bids of up to £2m for the frontman in January, and he reiterated his desire to stay with the club. But with relegation all but guaranteed, he will surely be looking for a Championship move this summer, could Cardiff fit the bill?
Charlie Adam
Another Premier League player out of contract this summer, Adam has been a regular in the Stoke City side in recent weeks but is yet to pen to paper on a new contract - although there is believed to be an option to extend until the end of next season. If the tough tackling Scotsman doesn't sign a new deal then his no nonsense and wholehearted style could suit Warnock's side as they try to prepare a promotion bid.
Lewis Grabban
Currently on loan at Reading, Grabban has had a few barren seasons but his goalscoring record in the Championship stacks up well. In his two full seasons in the second tier he's bagged 34 goals in 80 matches for Norwich and Bournemouth, and won promotion with the Canaries in 2015. Since that promotion his career has stalled somewhat as he's struggled to force his way into Bournemouth's starting XI on his return to the club. Could well be available this summer at a knocked down price if Bournemouth are relegated, or possibly a loan move if Eddie Howe wants to keep him on the books.
Ollie Watkins
Another striker, but then if you look back at those clubs who have gained promotion from the Championship, very few do it without a 20-goal a season striker. While Kenneth Zohore has the potential to be that man , so to does Ollie Watkins. An unfamiliar name to those outside Devon, but Watkins has scored 13 goals in 37 matches this season in Exeter's remarkable run from relegation candidates at Christmas to promotion chasers in March. The 21-year-old has already been subject to interest from a number of Championship clubs in January, and it's only a matter of time before he moves up the leauges.

Another great thing about NW is he has plenty of contacts in the game and loads of players willing to play for him. IMO he has already sounded out the players he wants and has an informal agreements with them to join CCFC in the summer.
He was very precise about his budget so must know what the wage demands and potential fees will be. I also suspect that this thread is correct and at least 2 (maybe all) of his summer targets are out of contract players coming on a free transfer or season long loans.

I don't know why journalists bother writing these types of articles.
Warnock or his team normally know or know a lot about the players they sign. This isn't like malky (not an anti point) who was a relatively unknown, so we had to pay through the nose, Warnock knows the true market value and players like playing for him, well those who put it all in.
Probably got three lined up already

Heard an interesting podcast the other day.. British fans and pundits think the world of football revolve around the english league system.. They made an example of Ibrahim at man utd.. (Yea, you might have been successful in italy, france and so on. But the English game is very different, so its not so easy here..) But then moved on, with what i thought was an interesting point.
English league system dosent hold the best talent. Championship football is far from top of the pops when looking at second tier football. Infact, they made out Bundesliga 2, to be the best second tier in the world. They went on.. Value for money, German, Spanish, Italian, French and Portuguese players represented by far more talent for money than British.. But the vast majority of of fans in Britain, lived in the delusion that all good and value is British.. Wonder if Warnock scouting range goes outside Cornwall.. If not, he should be happy the famous comity does

Another of the very many articles about whom NW should be or could be lining up.
I am happy to leave it to him to sort it out and not have to read such newspaper filler.
Incidentally I really hope that Charlie Adam will not be a City signing. He is a liability and lazy and an 'orrible bloke whom was part of that Blackpool team lest it not be forgotten.

Would love Charlie Adam and Joey Barton in Midfield.
We would really boss the centre of the park.

NW has already got his targets lined up I bet and I for one am happy for him to do his business. Another few to the high standards of Bamba and Hoilet and we won't be far off top 6. Enjoy the ride folks!!

Would love to see Henessey at the CCS, good Welsh keeper with 5 years easy left in him at a good level, big guy commands a big presence in goals, yes please Warnock.

Paul, I believe both of those would play for Neil Warnock (I think Barton has?)
