Cardiff City could wear blue away from home on Saturday
By Jamie Kemble
Cardiff City fans could watch their team playing in blue on Saturday despite playing Queens Park Rangers away from home.
Rangers are set to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their League Cup win of 1967 when they welcome Cardiff City to Loftus Road on Saturday.
As part of the event, members of the cup-winning side will be welcomed back to the London-based ground and invited onto the pitch at half-time to receive a warm welcome from supporters.
The home side will also wear a commemorative all-white kit for the fixture against the Bluebirds, meaning the away side could bizarrely wear their native blue home shirt.
And that may bring back memories for Cardiff fans who watched their team defeat a Rangers team wearing an all-white strip in the 2003 play-off final – a good omen perhaps?
Cardiff’s home kit does have white on the shirt, shorts and socks, but they of course wore the same kit in the 2-0 away win over Leeds, whose home kit is all white.
It’s set to be an intriguing encounter on Saturday afternoon with QPR picking up form under Ian Holloway, and Cardiff impressing under Neil Warnock.
The Bluebirds’ faithful love seeing their team playing in blue, there’s no doubt about that and the team could just be boosted by that factor on Saturday.
