' Striker Saves Neil Warnock over £1million '

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock admits Kenneth Zohore has saved him more than £1m after entertaining Fulham draw -

By Jack Vittles

Sunday 26th February 2017

Neil Warnock hailed his sides 2-2 draw with Fulham as a magnificent game for the neutrals after Kenneth Zohore's sensational double.

Cardiff were forced to share a point apiece with the Cottagers, as they scored through Stefan Johansen and Neeskens Kebano.

The match was end-to-end with barely time to draw breath and Warnock was beaming post-match at the quality on show from his side.

"It was a great match for the neutrals, I think both sides had opportunities to win the match," said Warnock.

"If we were 4-0 up at half time I don't think you could complain, we did well going forward.

"I think Junior [Hoilett] will be a little disappointed he didn't score, he could have had a hat-trick."

It was in-form striker Kenneth Zohore who did get on the scoresheet taking his goal tally to six in his last six matches.

"He's been training hard and listening to what he's been told. Jeppo [coach Ronnie Jepson] spoke to him at half time about how to get away from being sandwiched by their players, and he did ever so well in the second half.

"I said before he's saved me a £1m on buying a new striker, but I think it's even more than that now.

"I told him the other day to imagine if he'd been with me five years ago - he'd have had a hell of a career."

When asked if though Zohore had the ability to be a 20-goal a season striker, Warnock said he didn't know before joking: "I think he'll be close to 30."

Fulham's second goal came courtesy of a counter attack from a Cardiff corner, and the Bluebirds boss wasn't happy that familiar mistakes were repeated.

"I was upset with the first goal, that's twice recently that we've conceded from our own corner. But I thought we did ever so well to come back and take the lead again."

The Bluebirds boss put pen to paper on a new contract before kick-off, and the 68-year-old revealed he has always been committed to signing for another season.

"There was a gun behind my back I think, they wouldn't let me leave until I'd signed the contract," joked Warnock.

"It didn't need to be rushed but in football people don't believe your handshake these days.

"When you see what's happened to Ranieri, I think a one-year contract will do. If he can get the sack, there's no hope for any of us. "

Well,if fatty Ross and Rudy are worth 8-10m then this guy will pay off the debt this time next year if he keeps scoring like this. Begs the question, just how much would you have to pay these days for a proven 25 goal man at this level.

Your quite right but to date he is not a 25 goal a season striker, if he can continue this season as he has of late and be that 25 goal a season striker next year then he will be worth a lot of dollar. He's got even quicker and fitter since his wonder goal against Preston, city fans often focus on the negative. When a player is poor it's uproar, then when he's good it's can we hold on to him. Enjoy it, if he bags 25 next season I can assure you we will be in that top 6.

I think a lot of us have been proved wrong...but it does show the coaching qualities of Warnock, blackwell and Jepson...Ronnie Jepson was a good striker in his time and i think him and Warnock have worked hard with ZOHORE... but until they came you didn t see much in him... he appeared clueless...but fair do he has worked hard himself and uses his size and stength well.
Long may it continue

I always thought he had the potential and backed him to do well here, a fair majority didn't because he was a Tan signing and didn't want to acknowledge because of personal issues.

I do think Warnock and the coaches have got the best out of him but to say the other two failed with him is utter nonsense.. he never got a proper chance in the team and played more games coming off the bench than he did start under the other two. Using the word 'failed' is unfair considering he started 2 games last season and did he even start under Trollope?

Nothing to do with Tan, after the Burton away game I genuinely didn't want to see him in a city shirt again, from the minute he signed and up to that game he was beyond shit. I'm so glad he's proven me wrong though and he's now for me the first player I want to hear is on the team sheet. It's easily the best turn around I've seen in a player, big credit has to go to Warnock and his coaching staff but most importantly to Zohore himself, his change in attitude and work rate has been first class. Long may it continue, the amount of money you would have to spend on a striker with Ken's attributes would be at least 5+ million, if he carries on progressing the way he is I could see him hitting 20 goals next season.

Tan signed him so fair play.
Remember Bale was "shit" till the right man got the best out of him.
You can have the right tools but if the person working with them is useless so are the tools.
So really fair play for the signing and the appointment of Warnock

Always rated him and thought he had a good pedigree and would come good after having to acclimatize to the rigours of the championship, kept my opinions to myself on here as you get cut to ribbons just for having a view on this site so glad he is doing the business :o .

Bale was shit.?
was this when he made his Southampton debut at just 16
or when he made his international debut at 16
or when he got transfered to Spurs for 10 mill when he was 17 .
