' JUNIOR HOILETT '

Junior Hoilett has confirmed he wants to stay at Cardiff City beyond the summer, with terms of an extended deal set to be agreed soon.

Friday 24th February 2017

The Canadian winger also admitted refusing offers from other clubs in the hope of joining up with Neil Warnock when both men were free agents earlier in the season.

It was a gamble that paid off.

Hoilett scored his second Bluebirds' goal in the 5-0 rout of Rotherham last weekend and is thriving under Warnock's stewardship once more.

The 26-year-old played under Warnock at QPR and has quickly become an integral part of the manager's Bluebirds squad.

"I'm loving it. Since day one it's been welcoming, easy-going and I'm enjoying it with a good group of lads," said Hoilett when asked about his Cardiff City experience so far, and the benefits of playing under a manager like Warnock.

"He's a great person and a great manager to have for any player. He gives players confidence and helps you grow, no matter what position you are.

"We had a few phone calls (in the summer) and I kept my faith in him (Warnock) and it's turned out well, so I made a great decision to hold off a few clubs. It's been good here at Cardiff.

"It was frustrating (being without a club) but the right offers didn't come up."

Hoilett also confirmed advanced talks would soon lead to a formal extension of his contract. Hoilett signed a deal until the end of the season back in October but has proven a useful addition to the Bluebirds' squad.

"Hopefully everything will be sorted out and I'll get an extension," he added. "It'll be sorted soon, there was a clause (to extend) and I'm happy to stay."

The Canada international was — naturally — delighted with the news that Warnock will also remain in south Wales, with the veteran manager eyeing a promotion push next season.

Hoilett added: "It'll be great if Neil stays because we're playing the right football and if we can keep this going next season, we'll be fighting for promotion. That's everyone's target.

"We have a solid group and everybody's happy. We're going up against top teams and getting good results."

Fantastic news, although I thought this was gonna say something like his contract had been terminated. :ayatollah:

This really is good news and no coincidence it is announced on the same day as Neil Warnock confirms he is staying at Cardiff City, too!

Hopefully (for me) Kadeem Harris and Whitts next :ayatollah:

Not by accident this piece of news comes After NW's future was sorted. Couldn't see him staying if Warnock didn't

looking forward to see how he does upfront with big ken. certainly got pace and knows where the net is. can we transform him into a striker like some do with good wingers ? might have the striker here allready that can score 15/20 a season if we get lucky. took his goal well when he came on

Needs to spend some time practising his finishing.

Could have had a hat trick in the first half today.

Certainly well worth a contract for next season though.

I really like him but I'm surprised he hasn't got more goals and assists. Would love him to sign a new deal though he certainly has the quality.
