' 3,000 Cardiff Fans away / run riot '

This appeared yesterday in Herefords papers.

I rem it well, Cardiff fans arrived in Hereford from 10am, I caught the train and City fans got on at every train station all the way to Hereford.

Cardiff had fans in every part of the ground.

We only use to get 5,000 -8,000 home crowds yet could take 3,000 fans away.

Hereford away for me was always one of my favourite Cardiff away games.

Good to see they are climbing the non leagues and reguarly taking 500 fans away in the lower divisions of the non leagues :thumbright: :thumbright:

The articles about a Saturday afternoon game, but I take your points. Always a lively trip, fair play to Hereford they'd have a go back as well, but numbers usually told!

The one I'm on about was the Welsh Cup Semi-Final in the night, we took 3,000 fans then as well and it was the worst violence I have seen by City fans.

They always turned out, but we just had to many.

First time even in court after the Welsh Cup game - £200 fine for kicking a police dog and punching a copper. Yeah right. Truth was there was a mass brawl between CCFC fans and a few old bill in our end, I saw a gap and thought "I'm getting outta here as this looks dodgy". I walked towards the gap, copper set dog on me that bit me on the leg, copper then punched me in the side of the face and I was dragged along the pitch to eventually get chucked in a police van waiting outside.
At court my solicitor said that the coppers had concocted a story as one of them messed up his version when in the dock.
Magistrates (all rich land / farm owners no doubt) wouldn't even listen to our case - just hated the fact that a load of thugs came to their town to cause riot.
Hated the town ever since even though, strangely I have an affinity to HUFC (as I do with Bristol Rovers)

My friend was arrested Collin on the way out of the ground, they reckoned he had been involved in the fighting in the away end with the Police, but in fact we were both in the home end for most of the game, so I went to Court as a witness and they then tried to twist it that he had been involved in trouble in there  gave him a £50 fine.
I listened to the other cases, your right the court staff and Magistrates were full of farmers

I remember.

Len Ashurst's came over at half-time and asked the Cardiff Fans to calm down, then as soon as he walked away I remember seeing the advertising boards being pulled away by City fans, it really was one of worse times I have ever seen City fans behave, now if a fan sticks his fingers up,they make out there was a near riot.

I remember waiting outside the courtroom before my case and some young City fans were taken out of court for shouting out to the coppers "You're all f-img lying". Probably there the same day as you, Annis.
