Warnock: 'There will be changes this Summer'


Neil Warnock:

“I’ve got to look at the whole structure, I want to bring four or five in, so there will be changes, but I can’t say because I don’t know.
“I’ve given them ideas of what my thoughts are and what it would cost and we’re not far away.”

Injury update...

Neil Warnock:

“No New injuries, the same ones. Rickie is having treatment on his back after seeing a specialist.

“Rhys Healey is got to have an operation in a couple of weeks when everything’s calmed down.

Manga has trained - not fully - and is doing quite well and is not that long looking at him.”

With Financial Fair Play, are you convinced the funds will be there?


NEIL Warnock :

“You’ve got to do my bit as well, I have to try and help the club with the wage structure at the end of the season, I’ll have to do some juggling, but we feel it’s possible.
“It’s not unreasonable or unrealistic to put the club in a position to have a go.
“Nobody knows what’s around the corner but we’ve shown we can compete with anybody and that’s what we have to do next year.”

“They couldn’t have done it any quicker. I expected it to be done in the next three or four weeks, but there was not a lot to sort out.
“We wanted to stay, they wanted us to stay, we wanted an opportunity to do well next season, they’ve given us that.
“We want to put the club in a position next season to have a go.
“We’ll be up against big budgets so we’ll have to be good at what we do to give us a chance. The players have been on board and been super for me, I don’t think they realised how they could perform as a unit and if we can bring a bit more quality into that squad everyone can benefit.”

The first time I have felt positive about the direction we are heading in since the re-brand. Starting to look more like the Cardiff of old. I don't think a club of our size could have made a much better appointment than Warnock. One thing is for certain, we won't be flirting with the relegation places next xmas.

“We’ve had to show them what we can do. It’s a trust thing between a manager and an owner, we all want the same thing, nobody’s guaranteed but with their support we can give it a good try.
“We’ll be up against a lot of clubs with a lot of money. But it’s easy for a manager to commit to a club when the fans want you.
“I’ll be here as long as the fans want me because if they want me I’ll be doing a good job.
“If my health is good there’s no reason why I won’t be here for a couple of years.
“We’ll just have a go next season and see where we are.”

He met Dalman in London on Monday to discuss his future and how Financial Fair Play rules may affect his planning.

Warnock's fears were put at ease by Dalman and the two men shook hands on the new contract.

Having been given the assurances he wants, Warnock said: "It’s never been in question. I've only spoken to Mehmet about certain things that he and Vincent Tan were trying to agree and I’m pleased to say I’ve agreed everything.

"We’ve not put pen to paper but we’ve agreed an extension for next season. We’re singing from the same song sheet.

Warnock on the last time Cardiff City faced Fulham

The last time Fulham came to the Cardiff City Stadium, the FA Cup tie kicked off at 11:30am, there was a small crowd and Warnock rested half of his first team...

NEIL WARNOCK:

“It’s the only time on the touchline as Cardiff manager when I knew we would get beat, but we couldn’t risk two or three lads at that moment, that will be different next season.
“I love the FA Cup and I’d like a go, but we had to get away from the bottom.
“I told the manager then I hope to give you a better game in a few weeks time. We can do that against anyone in the league. Fulham are a good team but our lads are flying.”

Warnock: 'I've never felt lonely here'

“It’s a very lonely place, being a football manager. But the one thing I can honestly say at Cardiff I’ve never been lonely. I had so much support.
“My wife really enjoys it here, she’s coming tomorrow and it’s lovely to put smiles on faces, not just on playing side but getting all the club together, everybody connected with the club, make it the unity of the club.”
