Who are Trethomas Bluebirds?

Who are they, what's their history and background?

Welsh league side, recently risen through the Gwent leagues and now playing at Bedwas RFC ground, which is a nice set up.

I don't know if you put your question because you might have wondered if there was any official Cardiff City connection. If so, I'm not sure there is. Trethomas Bluebirds emerged from the Bedwas Colliery club which played semi pro football up to the 80s and was always affectionately known as the "Bluebirds".

I played against them a few times in mid 90s always a decent team even back then. They were playing in the gwent county league then.

Great team recently. I've played a couple of games for them over the years but out of my league now!
I think the team was initially set up by a group of city supporters but I could be wrong!

I did wonder if they were a supporters club or had any other affiliation to City.
It would be good to see more clubs like them across the whole region.
