Could Frazier Campbell be just what Neil Warnock's Cardiff need this summer?

By HITC SPORT

Crystal Palace striker Frazier Campbell may well be looking for a move away from Selhurst Park in the summer. Could Cardiff City be an option?

At one point in his career, Crystal Palace striker Frazier Campbell was tipped to be a future England international star. Scoring goals for fun at Hull City back in 2007-08, Frazier Campbell was once one of England's hottest properties, causing defender's nightmares everywhere he went.

However, a run of seasons spent wasted on the bench has caused Campbell's stock to drop, unable to score the kind of goals he once bagged for fun whilst playing second or even third fiddle to other centre forwards.

With the striker's contract at Selhurst Park set to expire in the summer, Frazier Campbell could well be on the lookout for a new club, hoping to get back to form and, more importantly, get some game time. At the age of 29, Frazier Campbell perhaps needs that confidence boost from a new team and a new home at this stage in his career.

One club that could well offer him this is Neil Warnock's Cardiff City. The Bluebirds, who have been revitalised by Warnock since he took over, may well be looking to push into the top half of the Championship and beyond next season, but desperately need to get themselves a new goalscorer if they hope to do so.

Frazier Campbell, who spent a year with the Bluebirds between 2013-14, scored 13 goals for Cardiff City whilst the club were in the Premier League; an impressive feat, considering how poor Cardiff were at that stage.

Knowing the club and their fans, Cardiff City might well be an appealing option for Campbell, should he be happy to make the drop down to the Championship this summer.

But would this be a good option for Cardiff? With Campbell having spent some considerable time without regular football, perhaps the Bluebirds might not want to take such a risk?

People say he's not prolific enough but over recent games city have had 4 or more players inside opponent area? So maybe city's tactics under warnock will suit him?

Might be worth a punt if theres no fee involved but I don't think he'll be short of offers and may yet be offered fresh terms by palace if they go down as they'll need to offload some of their big earners. Can't really see who else in the prem would look at him.

I hope so! Would love to see him back at CCFC!

Always been a big fan of Campbell. Has a great attitude, work rate and goals. Certainly a Warnock type player. My only concern would be his lack of game time over the last couple of years.

Put 2 and 2 together and you might have one of Warnock's summer targets ;)

I like Cambell but I think we need to move on and get behind the improving Zohore. :thumbright: :ayatollah:

I always thought he took too many chances to score, but Warnock was I'll know his stats and attitude, so you never know??

Personally I don't think Warnock would want him especially as he's played so little football like Chamakh, who let him down badly !!!

full of promise. but now nearly 30 having achieved so little, always put money way ahead of actually playing.

You should never go back.Even David Marshall. It's never the same nor should it be.Rhys Healy will be back with a bang and a bit more meat on him after rehab in the gym..I know we need a striker for a full summer with NW but can't help thinking Campbell will think he's doing us a favour and shouldn't really be at this level.I'm sure Warnock knows a bit more than me so whoever he chooses will be ok with me.By the way Neil thanks for giving me my club back.

Apparently reports up Boro way that Warnock enquired about Clayton and what the manager for Boro is doing with him next season in terms of is he in his plans.

Hard worker and a handful in this division. I'd love him back but it won't happen I don't think. Probably still want a big wage, he's wasted his career bench warming when he could have been killing it in the championship.

This probably won't happen but anyone thinking he isn't good enough for us at Championship level is mad.

I could see him scoring a fair few goals alone or alongside Zohore.

I agree. Warnock will give him a confidence boost.

Campbells scoring record in the Championship is excellent.

Take him in a flash.
