Leicester City have sacked Claudio Ranieri.
LEICESTER CITY CLUB STATEMENT:
Leicester City Football Club has tonight (Thursday) parted company with its First Team Manager, Claudio Ranieri.
Claudio, appointed City manager in July 2015, led the Foxes to the greatest triumph in the Club’s 133-year history last season, as we were crowned champions of England for the first time. His status as the most successful Leicester City manager of all time is without question.
However, domestic results in the current campaign have placed the Club’s Premier League status under threat and the Board reluctantly feels that a change of leadership, while admittedly painful, is necessary in the Club’s greatest interest.
Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “This has been the most difficult decision we have had to make in nearly seven years since King Power took ownership of Leicester City. But we are duty-bound to put the Club’s long-term interests above all sense of personal sentiment, no matter how strong that might be.
“Claudio has brought outstanding qualities to his office. His skilful management, powers of motivation and measured approach have been reflective of the rich experience we always knew he would bring to Leicester City. His warmth, charm and charisma have helped transform perceptions of the Club and develop its profile on a global scale. We will forever be grateful to him for what he has helped us to achieve.
“It was never our expectation that the extraordinary feats of last season should be replicated this season. Indeed, survival in the Premier League was our first and only target at the start of the campaign. But we are now faced with a fight to reach that objective and feel a change is necessary to maximise the opportunity presented by the final 13 games.”
First Team preparations for Monday’s Premier League fixture against Liverpool will resume on Saturday, with Assistant Manager Craig Shakespeare and First Team Coach Mike Stowell taking charge of the squad until a new manager is appointed.
Assistant Manager and First Team Coach Paolo Benetti and First Team Sport Science and Conditioning Coach Andrea Azzalin have also parted company with the Club and leave with our thanks for their service and best wishes for the future.
The Board will now begin the recruitment process and will make no further comment until that process is completed.

Bad decision in my book.

Interesting one that considering they have a good chance of progressing in the Champions League.

I know they're struggling but that's a disgusting decision.
No loyalty. Hope they go bust.

Absolute madness....less than ten months ago achieved probably the biggest upset in the history of the premier league something which might never be achieved again.
Mahrez, Vardy, Huth, Morgan and others have been shocking at times this season and made some poor individual errors which have cost loads of points...yet it's the manager who gets the blame

absolutely shocking. Funny thing is if they didn't win the prem they'd prob be happy just surviving. Idiots, I hope they go down now with a bang.

There's no room for sentiment in football they've been appaling this season he should of retired after winning the title he was never going to top that.

If winning the league back then with relegation favs Leicester is not enough then football is fucked in general and its modern fans way of thinking is pathetic imo.
Did anyone really think they was going to repeat the same thing maybe there deluded owners did, f*cking whoppers deserve to go down now, football today is a shambles of what it once was and what it ment to be a fan years ago

They've been appalling so can understand why they have acted I think he lost the dressing room so I don't think they had much choice I expected them to do much better not win the league but better that they are doing they have recruited poorly aswell.

He had to go, the players have completely lost faith in him, keeping him would be like us sticking with Trollope and getting relegated because he's a nice bloke !!!!

What a crazy decision, every Leicester player needs to look in the mirror and realise their actions have cost Ranieri his job.
Thu Feb 23, 2017 9:52 pm
Very sad but they should of done it weeks ago. The players weren't performing and that's the managers job to sort out.
He wasn't sorting it out.

Don't think a manager becomes a bad manager all of a sudden. The players are virtually the same as last season. Too many of them thought they had made it after last season, i.e. Vardy can't hit a barn door from five yards this season(yes I know he scored last night) after scoring for fun last season. None of them seem to work as hard as they did last season. Ranieri should have been given the chance to keep them up. Is there anyone better than him available at the moment with not that many games left to turn things round.

They may call on Warnock with 13 games to save their skin

What a difference 9 months have made

Claudio Ranieri was named Leicester manager on 13 July 2015 on a three-year contract. Anyone predict he would win the Premier League in his first season, take the club to the last-16 of the Champions League, AND STILL come nowhere close to seeing out his deal? Incredible!

I had a nose through the Leicester message board, apparently sources have said Morgan, Huth, Kaspar, Drinkwater and few others have flogged him down the river to the owners.
End of the day, the players are to blame, they have been making individual errors and not taking chances.
I'd suspect the premiership winners status got to their heads and they all think their big time charlies ... easier to blame the manager than to accept their individual performances have been diabolical.
Disgrace of a club and owners.

I knew he lost the dressing room watched Drinkwater's interview after the jacks game and his body language said it all.

MOURINHO'S CLASSY (Instagram) MESSAGE TO RANIERI
Mourinho, now the manager of Manchester United, sent Ranieri a touching message on Instagram in the wake of his dismissal.
It reads:
“Champion of England and FIFA Manager of the Year. Sacked. That’s the new football Claudio. Keep smiling Amico. Nobody can delete the history you wrote.”

Terrible, now they decide to play !!!!
It's gutting for Ranieri, but for business reasons they had to make the change, just like Swansea, player power is getting too much !!!
