Cardiff City's Striker Rickie Lambert has seen the specialist this week and Lambert will need ongoing treatment,but will be able to play now and again, but it seems his back problem could go on in to this summer where he will be able to have a rest and continue his treatment.

Neil Warnock is hoping that Lambert will at least be able to be the back up striker to Zohore and hopefully coming off the bench,if needed,as City have very few other options.

Warnock received bad news early this week with confirmation that Rhys Healey will be out injured for at least nine months.

If Warnock stays on at Cardiff City his first target will be a new striker,Warnock wanted a striker in the January transfer window, but was unable to,due to lack of funds.


Contrary to stories that have gone around, Rickie Lambert has a two year contract with Cardiff City,costing Cardiff City around £2 million plus, its believed WBA paid part of his last contract off to Lambert.

Lambert said "As you get older injuries take their toll. Not just fresh injuries, but ones you’ve carried through your career too and carried on playing with."

"I’m 35 years old very soon, and I’m still bearing the scars from my own career. My right foot, neck, hip. The war wounds haven’t gone away more than a decade on."

'When you are injured it frustrates you. The older you are, the more the recovery time seems to be. Then you get another niggle and you're almost back to square one. It can be terribly irritating."

In 2015 Rickie Lambert cost WBA £3 million and made 20 league appearances, though 15 came from the bench, and he only found the back of the net once.

Yeah, doesn't strike me as someone who would just milk us dry if he knows his time is up. Here's hoping he leaves this summer, without a payout.

Nah he will only injure his arms when moving his pie towards his mouth and drops it and will injure his back when trying pick it back up.

I think we will get him fit and he will score at least 10 goals for us next season. He's had very little playing time but still managed 3 goals for us this season. Unlike most on year, I WANT him to do well whereas others just want to hurl abuse. If Warnock wants to give him a chance then we should get behind Ricky as well.

The whole injury thing is charade in my opinion. He's played 19 games ( 17 for us ) and if his contract was very badly managed and its 20 games this year without clarifying " for us " then his season is already finished. Unlikely but who knows.
If he does stay and next season bangs in 10 goals in his first 19 games would you continue to play him knowing its going to cost you another year's salary.
