Nathan Blake : 'If Cardiff City lose Neil Warnock they will not have seen a crash like it ever before'

By Nathan Blake

Wednesday 22nd February 2017

Things couldn't get much better at Cardiff City right now, with the Bluebirds absolutely flying under Neil Warnock.

The veteran boss has had a quite remarkable effect at the Bluebirds, instilling a belief and confidence in players and fans alike that seemed impossible not so long ago.

Saturday's 5-0 thumping of Rotherham was the icing on the cake after stunning victories at Derby and Leeds, and there's even rising hopes an unlikely play-off charge might not be totally out of the question.

While that still seems a big improbability, there's real hope Warnock can mount a serious promotion charge next term, as long as he remains at the club and is given the backing he desires.

"If they dont keep Warnock, this will be another John Toshack all over again and will take years to get the City fans back again"

If Cardiff City lose Warnock it will be one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, mistake that the club will have made of all the numerous mistakes it has made over the past four or five seasons.

Let's hope they are wise enough not to let that happen.

Nothing over the past 4wks or so suggests NW is going anywhere! Contrary it points to him staying? :occasion5:

How or why would someone make a statement that flies in face of the evidence? Considering NW himself states he doesn't plan to go anywhere! :o

He has also said he will not be staying unless he has the financial backing for a genuine promotion push. Yes we want him to stay, but right now nothing has been decided one way or the other as far as we know. I am surprised that Warnock and the club have not confirmed that he will be here for next season at least, as their meeting was a few days back. Hopefully we will hear something soon, because the longer the uncertainty goes on, the less confident I will be that he is staying. A positive statement will not inflate the price of any players he may be after, because the club has made it perfectly clear that there is very little money available, and Warnock has also stated that he is not looking for much money anyway. All we can do is hope for the best.

NW knows the score and is still wanting to stay that must give indication that he is confident he will be backed sufficiently to stay?

I hope you are right, and the noises from the club so far are positive. The thing is, we have both been around long enough to know what a club says and what actually happens are two completely different things eg. the dreaded vote of confidence in a manager just before he is sacked.

Yes but I see it as a vote of confidence in the club from NW being positive :laughing6:

Spot on. There will then be loads of pressure on the new manager and especially the club if Warnock leaves.

sorry but this is paper talk and frankly rubbish - you can never prove a negative, but this is 'just for hits' material now... :(

How do you know it's rubbish when Warnock himself has said quite a few times he will be off if he does not think he can mount a promotion challenge next season. It is speculation, but it is a valid point. I remember when we sold Toshack, he was the reason I started following the team, and I am sure when the first rumours started circulating about his transfer many of us thought and hoped that they were just rumours. When he unexpectedly was not on the team sheet, we started to think there was something in those rumours, and suddenly he was gone. None of us know what is going on behind the scenes.
