Haha sorry I beat you to it, yes even though it doesn't seem like a lot, just that word "progress" in my opinion means the club are trying to do what that can to keep Warnock here, it also means to me that they are coming to an understanding of what Warnock believes he will need to build a squad thats adequate to challenge at the top of the league.
I think it will just be a matter of time before they agree on what Warnock will be able to have for next season, then it's just down to Warnock if he believes he can take us places with what they agree on.
I think he's a man his word and if he's happy with what the board offer him as a budget then he will sign a contract with us for next season at least. I dont think, like some rumours suggest, he would just leave us for Villa if they offer him a few mill more than us I think if he's happy with the budget he will stay here as openly said he want's to earn promotion and that he really enjoys it here with the club and fans.

Is it just an excuse not to spend to try and get back up to the Premiership again as Tan has no interest in the club!

No
FFP is a real constraint and the penalties for non-compliance are getting harsher.
Cardiff are paying for bad decisions (and ongoing costs for players no longer at the CCS) over the last 3 years.
Tan is still spending a small fortune on the club and (appears to be) following through on his 'debt to equity' promises - or at least he will be (after the first £8m last year) when he gets the OK from the Malaysian regulatory authorities.
I suspect a number of other Championship clubs are gambling with FFP and losing - and will fall foul - but some of them have generated income as well as spending in recent windows.

Correct they are right at the beginning with nothing agreed yet, just plenty of talk so far.

I agree that figures are not going to be made public. However, a brief statement along the lines of after positive talks between the manager and club, Warnock has decided to stay with us for next season in an attempt to achieve his target of another promotion. That would not be giving anything away, and would give a boost to players and fans, and I am sure help with ticket sales as well. If an agreement has been reached, I can't see any reason why Warnock cannot be confirmed as our manager for next season. If he has decided to stay, what's the difference in telling us now or at the end of the season.

Maybe it's because club is in negotiations with various fringe players about leaving at end season and everyone is waiting until things a bit clearer? After all NW himself refered to moving players on before budget can be sorted! So prudent to wait until then before statement is made.

I see what you mean Alan, but if that is the reason and the budget has not yet been agreed because of players having to moved on, would'nt that suggest that nothing has yet been agreed between the club and Warnock. What if we cannot offload all the unwanted deadwood? I'm not saying that's the case, just putting another slant on things as I think you may well be right, and if you are, I doubt if anything has been agreed yet as Warnock has linked our budget to him staying or leaving.

It won't mean clubs will increase the price of any players Warnock may be interested in, as the club has made it clear that there is not a massive war chest to play with. Good news all round, and should help season ticket sales as well. I think there is every chance we will be competing towards the top of this division this time next year with a clever bit of wheeling and dealing from Warnock.
