Apperently Dalman said all the right things that Warnock wanted to hear if players are off loaded, but massive pressure to get rid of dead wood in June.
I hope Warnock is happy with that?
I want the dead wood gone ASAP

But it's easier said than done.

Annis NW knows the score as he's said it himself! So would expect he's happy but let's hope club doesn't renage on whatever they've agreed with him.

I am sure he will be happy with that. It is about time we finally got rid off all the dead wood and Warnock now has plenty of time between now and the end of the season to clear the decks and move unwanted players on.
I can see Manga and Whits in this as well. Come the start of next season we will have a streamlined squad but very competitive and a definite push for promotion

Who are the players out of contract and the ones likely to move?
I'd shift Manga (purely financial reasons), Whitts and Amos for starters. I reckon we could also see Huws go to Ipswich and Nooone may also move (based on NWs comments re Burton).
Saadi has apparently already been set up for a move. If we could shift Gounogbe, Le Fondre and Lambert I'm sure that would pretty much clear it (Okeefe and Kennedy I'd imagine aren't on huge wages so I've not included them).
All hypothetical I know but that's my take on it.
Ps. Is ALF out of contract at end of this season?

Ben Amos goes back
Le Fondre,Whittingham,Manga, Harris etc are out of contract in June.

I think Warnock is of a strong enough mind to know whether the wool is being pulled over his eyes with false promises

To my knowledge ALF has already gone off the wages to Bolton?
Unless Manga and Whitts take lower wages they will be gone imo Lambert will be given a free just to get his wages off.
John, okeefe, Kennedy, Fred, Huws and all the other loans will not return. Could be well over 10 out leaving around 18 players left inc young Harris and Wilson.
NW has stated he wants 4 players (that's the ones we pay for) could be 6-8 with frees/loans?

The trouble is, if they are under contract and we can't find a club to Liam them to they HAVE to come back. I'd imagine that NW will be playing hardball with some of the players he wants out to try and force them out.

Personally I wouldn't want to sit around doing nothing?
Even less so under NW !!!!!!!!

Thanks Annis.
As big a Whitts fan as I am, I'd only keep Harris out of those.
I just hope Lambert retires

Agree

My only concern with this is that NW has always said he wants players in early.
Our deadwood could be hanging around a while.
Tue Feb 21, 2017 10:33 am
Warnock as already said he wants to keep manga albiet on less money and offered whitts a new deal
Tue Feb 21, 2017 10:37 am
Hopefully then all money raised or saved by getting rid of our unwanted players will be available for Warnock to use as he wants. As already mentioned, let's hope we can get some other clubs to take the players who are not out of contract off our hands, and that the resulting extra money that becomes available is enough to bring in the players Warnock will be after.

So you would tell them to stick the £ 25 k up their arse and go and sign on. I suspect in your in a minority there and definitely not a scouser.
Tue Feb 21, 2017 10:48 am
Sounds like a man with a plan.He may well have told those players that are not part of his plans already so their agents can find them a new club.He might be a pensioner but he doesn't let the grass grow under his feet.

Oh and I wouldn't want to be any where near the club to get abuse off the likes of you at games!
He might be a scouser and they don't have windows up there but I think I would draw the line at that Dai!!

What I'm hearing is that Harris will sign a new and improved deal if Warnock stays.
Holliet will way up options but is keen to see if the board allow investment into the team. Apparently he's very happy at Cardiff.

That's what I heard so let's hope there has been a handshake somewhere so they can be told.
Tue Feb 21, 2017 11:16 am
IMO, & probably obvious to some, but NW has known for a while now who he wants to stay, & who he wants to leave. He also knows who he wants to bring in. He wont loose any time either, Lex Immers was an example of this, & Craig Noone was almost out the door & up the road too remember, no doubt with a few others, like Zohore, being reminded of their positions at the club!

I think this was always the case...and backs up Dalmans comment on the weekend about having to look at the cost base to enable us to give Warnock what he wants.
Hopefully, it won't be that difficult to shift some of the fringe players o Keefe, Huws, ajeya, Wilson and Saddi should be able to find new clubs without taking big pay cuts....Lambert and Fred might be more of a problem!!!
Manga I'm pretty certain won't sign a new contract...but let's be honest although he is a very good player when fit, we don't normally get 20+ games out of him each season with injuries and international commitments.
Same with Whitts fantastic player 5/6 years ago but no more than a fringe player these days

What players would constitute "dead wood" in you're opinion

Good thing this time is that the likes of Kennedy, Huws, and Adjeyi are playing well for their clubs. If they keep that up, then we may even get a fee!
I'd like to see Harris, Whitts and Hoilett sign new deals.
But i think Manga, Le fondre, o keefe and saadi will be off the books.
I think lambert will either have to start playing or will retire soon.
That just leaves the club needing to offload Gunongabe and John to clear all those i don't see in warnocks plans.
I think Noone And Zohore have had the kick up the arse that they needed, Warnocks goals on sunday interview was a fantastic insight into the true goings on at the club.

Think Kennedy is still very much in Warnocks plans...the guy has stacks of ability but questionable attitude??

I hope Warnock is happy with that, and don't see why he shouldn't be. That's similar to the sort of things he's been saying.
Personally, I expect Warnock to be our manager next season.

I hope he will be our manager next season. If Warnock is happy with the outcome of the meeting, you would expect the club and Warnock will announce that both club and manager have the same vision and ambition sooner rather than later. We know there is not much money, but this would confirm that Warnock thinks he may be able to do something with the limited funds available. A statement would also help with season ticket sales which are not far away, as well as re-assuring the players and backroom staff. Any lengthy delay in an announcement of some sort would suggest all is not as well as we hope.

I agree with your view. Looking at this from a more positive angle I would say that we are very lucky with the timing as we were when NW came here.
There are no if's or but's about Lambert, Magna, Whittingham, Le Fondre, Kennedy and Amos who can be moved on at no cost to the club. Huws looks almost certain to join Ipswich and if he doesn't then I'm sure there are many other Championship sides who would sign him.
The stumbling blocks are probably Fred (off to Belgium maybe?), possibly Bennett and O'Keefe but all are players which should interest other teams (Fred apart).

Why? Do you know something we don't?

DandoCCFC wrote:So we can put this nonsense of him not getting backed to bed now?

We would all like to think so. NW knows the players he wants and probably how much they will cost in wages/fees. If he can clear out the deadwood then that in theory should give him some wriggle room to bring in his own players.
The big question is whether there is funding on top of that amount and can it be accommodated within FFP over the next 3 seasons?
