Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock says he wants to ensure Cardiff are seen in a positive light during his time at the club.

Neil Warnock: "Cardiff must be seen in a positive light during and after his reign, and highlighted the belief he has in the job he is doing. He said: “It’s good to bring the club together so that people are looking at the club in a positive way and not a negative one."

“I’m in a very fortunate situation with the work we, Ronnie Jepson and Kevin Blackwell, have put in – it has got us here and there’s nothing that I’ve thought of that can take me away, to be honest."

“This has given me a belief in what I do – I was working it out with my son and I’ve been a manager for 37 years, and to still have that desire to put one over on people – that enthusiasm is good really.”

Warnock also discussed the two monumental away wins over Derby County and Leeds United respectively, but says credit must be given to others. He added: “In the circumstances, the Derby win was one of my because everyone had written us off, but I was looking forward to the challenge."

“When we get two wins like that – well a lot of credit goes to Ken Choo, I asked if we could fly to Leeds and we had no sponsors so it was a lot of money for the club. I knew we had no chance of getting the results if we were making the long drive because preparation is everything – we’ll take the credit but others are due some as well.”

Neil Warnock on goal-line technology

“Absolutely (I’m happy with that).

“The money that in the game, surely we can have the same as the Premier League. The rewards to get into the Premier League more than warrants that.
“It’s happened to me two or three times. Anything that helps the referees in today’s game, the game is so fast.
“With linesmen, I still can’t see how the linesman could see across the goal in our game against Norwich a couple of weeks ago, I’m amazed that he’s got such superhuman eye sight.
“Anything that can clarify 100 per cent has got to be better for managers rather than someone having a guess.”

Neil Warnock: 'You can’t really win tomorrow'

Neil Warnock:

“You can’t really win tomorrow because everyone expects us to win. You look at their results, they’ve never lost by one goal apart from at Newcastle.
“It’ll be hard and the Rotherham players will want to show me what they can do. They were fantastic for me, it was a superhuman effort and it’s one of the best achievements in my career with how the situation was.
“It’ll be a bit strange for me seeing those players tomorrow. It’ll answer a few more questions for me really.
“I thought we [Cardiff] could’ve got results at Brighton, Reading and Newcastle. It’s frustrating that mistakes have cost us in those games.
“We had enough chances against Wigan and ended up losing. So it’s going to be a difficult game tomorrow.
“I said to the lads that Saturday’s game will be harder than the last two we’ve had.”

Warnock on keeping Rotherham up last season

Neil Warnock:

“In the circumstances, it was a very good achievement. It was one of my best.
“Not only did we have 16 games to go, we played all the top seven out of eight teams straight away. Everyone had written us off and I was looking forward to the challenge.
“But some of my promotions have been amazing - that’s over 46 games. Everyone played their part at Rotherham. Similarly last weekend, and over the last two games, to get two wins.
“I asked Ken Choo to fly us up to Leeds because I knew to drive up five hours to then leave to go to Derby on Monday, we’d have no chance of getting the results.
“To get permission, he asked Vincent [Tan] who said yes, it was great to do that because preparation is important at this level. I think that made the difference.
“We left at 3.30pm on Friday and were in the hotel at 6pm. We could relax a lot more and be ready for the Monday push.”

Warnock: 'I feel refreshed'

Neil Warnock:

“I might even do a couple more years here. I feel refreshed. Rotherham actually gave me that zest back.
“You see a lot of people who are my age and you talk to them and you think they’re about 90. The younger the lads around the place, they keep your mind active. And I want to show people what I can do and bring clubs together. You can’t really do that overnight.
“I might have let my heart rule my head at Rotherham last year. If we agreed terms straight away I might’ve stayed. It was only four weeks later when we’d agreed terms but it was too late, I’d made up my mind.
“Once I shake someone’s hands, that’s the deal done.
“As I said to Mehmet [Dalman], he was concerned I was going somewhere else at the time and tried to get me to sign. But I said ‘don’t worry, I shook your hand’ which means that’s it. It’s how I am.”

Neil Warnock:

“It’s given me the belief in what I do. I’ve been a manager for 37 years, it’s a long time.
“To still have that enthusiasm and have that desire to want to put one over on people, that’s what I thrive on.
“Also, for Cardiff fans to go home having seen a performance or effort of their team and to be talking about the club again in a good sense rather than a negative sense.
“That’s very important for me to bring the whole club together. It’s not easy at times.”

Kadeem Harris' contract situation

Harris is out of contract this summer...

Neil Warnock:

“We’ve spoken to him, it’s like everyone else. I’ve spoken to [Peter] Whittingham, Kadeem and Junior [Hoilett].
“I’ve had to put things on the back burner until we can clarify this FFP. We’ve got to really know where we’re batting.
“Oh yeah (I want to keep him). I’ve had a meeting with his dad and they’ve been good meetings.
“I’ve said to his dad that he won’t play for anyone better than me. The grass is never greener anywhere else.
“When you know a player inside out, you can get the best out of him. So sometimes, it’s not just about money, it’s about being in the right place with the right manager at the right club.
“That’s the same when I try and sign players because quite a few players I talk to are offered more money elsewhere.”

Warnock drops his biggest hint yet that he's staying on

Neil Warnock:

“We’ll just be talking in general. Mehmet’s getting some information for me of what I want, regarding Financial Fair Play (FFP), we need to know what we can do to bring the three or four players in.
“We haven’t got many who are out of contract in the summer. So it’s not as straight forward to thin my squad.
“It’s going to be difficult in the next few months to put things in place. But I’m relishing it, I’m in a very fortunate situation with the work we’ve put in.
“Not just me, Kevin [Blackwell] and Ronnie Jepson have been amazing. The work that they’ve put in to put us in this position - It’s nice to be wanted.
“The biggest thing coming here was the Cardiff fans and the reaction to the thought of me taking over.
“It would have to be something extreme, something I’ve not thought about, to take me away from that.”

Warnock on Declan John

Neil Warnock:

“I’ve not really seen him. There’s a lot of ability in there, I’ve not seen enough drive to warrant him coming into the team.
“Players like Rhys Healey have got back in the team because of training, and [Craig] Noone, whereas he was really poor two or three weeks ago.
“Junior will be in next so they’ve got to be on their toes.”

Warnock on his new-found belief

Neil Warnock:

“The fear of relegation is the worst fear in the world. People say there’s pressure at the top but I don’t think so.
“My pressure is that I don’t like losing. A lot of defeats I’ve had here could’ve been prevented with a stupid goal.
“So the belief when you start getting wins, it’s natural. Players don’t think twice, you’re quicker in your train of thought.
“You don’t get any fitter after Christmas with the number of games you play. Tomorrow, we’ll need the fans to rally us.
“You’ve got to beat teams when you’re not playing well. Can we lift ourselves against a team we’re expecting to beat. I’ve been in the other corner and I know how hard it will be.”

Interesting comments about Declan...we all know he has ability but does he lack ambition?? Confidence?? Mental strength??

Big few months for him if he can't force his way into the team will he be gone in the summer???

Love Warnocks philosophy, once a hand shake its a done deal, part of the older crop who were honest by their word.

Spoken to a players Father to say he's better staying with us, stuff like this that Warnock does makes me realise why he's achieved so much, a proper old school footballing manager who loves the game .. hats off to you Neil, you're a legend :bluescarf:

No chance of reaching the play offs would have to win 12 of our last 14 games to sneak into 6th!!!

Couple more wins and I expect a few more youngsters to be given significant game time...all about planning for next season now...the future looks bright :ayatollah: :ayatollah:
