Rickie Lambert tells of his frustration of missing out on most of this seasons campaign with Cardiff City.

http://www.annisabraham.co.uk/2017/02/1 ... peaks-out/ :bluebird: :bluebird:

Lambert had been injury prone with his two previous clubs WBA and Liverpool and had spent most of the last couple of years watching from the terraces,he was hoping Cardiff City would be a new start for him and was relishing the challenge.

The Cardiff City Striker who is costing Cardiff City approx £25,000 a week in wages and has only managed 7 goals in his last three years of football including the 3 goals he has scored for Cardiff City this season.

Ricky Lambert was signed by Paul Trollope from West Brom on transfer deadline day last summer on a two year contract.

Lambert travelled to Derby County last night on the team coach, but missed out on the action after being unable to shrug off a back problem he has been struggling with since he signed for Cardiff City.

Rickie Lambert today spoke of his heartache and frustrations having missed out on Cardiff City's superb 4-3 away win over Derby County last night.

The last time Lambert started for Cardiff City was when City were beaten 2-1 by Fulham at the Cardiff City Stadium in the third round of the FA Cup on January 8 2017.

Lambert who is 34-year-old said "it's been tough to watch on from the sidelines,I should be fit to return for the Bluebirds' clash with Rotherham at the Cardiff City Stadium this Saturday."

"I've had a few problems this season and I've found it a little bit frustrating," Lambert said on Talk Sport.

"I've had a few niggles and my back's playing up at the minute. I travelled to Derby and was hoping I could be on the bench and that I'd be able to play a part but it wasn't to be."

"But I managed to travel and I enjoyed it. I'm hoping to be ok for Saturday."

Lambert also said "Neil Warnock has been the real driving force behind the club's turnaround in fortunes."

"We've always had good players so we were disappointed being lower down the table," added the striker.

"We always knew that we were better than the position showed so it was only a matter of time. Since Neil's come in, he's completely galvanised the players and the whole stadium."

"There's a buzz about the place now, we're not completely safe from relegation but we're starting to look up and seeing who we can catch."

Lambert just wants to be part of the new set up and get out there and play.

Comes across as a genuine fella and I don't think he came here with the idea of being a bit part player but he may turn out to be another one that we cut our losses on.

Martin, I use to say Ole was a nice genuine man, Slade and Trollope the same etc but if the Committee keep bringing in people like that just because they are honest/genuine people and not on their record, then no wonder we are in so much of a financial mess.
Oh by the way Bolton fans tell me Ben Amos is a decent bloke, just useless as a goalie and thats not sarcasm.

Of course players have career ending insurance but Lambert is a long way from that. He's looking to be available for Saturday and has niggling injuries so I'm sure a medical board wouldn't class him as having to retire.
I'm also pretty sure he's looking forward to playing again soon.

yep read the article. and also noticed how often he has been injured.
you obviously think he is still capable of playing regularly or semi regular to a standard acceptable for 25k a week.
i just dont see it.
hope im proved wrong

Imagine if he is actually fit and starts popping in a goal or two....he would be a great boost for the end of season run in.

Saw Rickie play for the Gas years ago before his 'big money' move to the Saints - he is a fabulous footballer and I really hope he can make a contribution.

To go on about his wages is a distraction frankly- plenty were creaming their pants when he joined so be men and suck it up when it ain't going for you.

No mate, I don't "obviously think he is capable of playing regularly or semi regular to a standard acceptable for 25k a week"
I've never said that and in fact I am one of the few on here who stated it was a potentially bad signing whilst others were saying he was the next messiah getting us 20+ goals a season.
The point is that medically he is nowhere near being able to accept having to retire due to career ending injuries. There would never be a big pay out by insurance companies in his situation.
The point is he is happy to train, play occasionally and pick up 25k a week. I'm not.

Let's hope so coz he is a great player when fit

I noticed many say on here how good he is when he is fully fit, but that is the problem, he is getting old and even Warnock said that and for years he has done nothing, for me a very very costly player and needs shipping out.

I agree seems nice bloke but I would say same thing on 25k per week and not about the supporters who have stopped paying to go to save money or whatever and who get criticised for it Hmmm.

If he comes on this Saturday will probably pull something else!!

Cardiff are right not to play him if it triggers another year of his contract whether that be a second year on this or a the unthinkable 3rd year on an already contracted next year. There needs to be end to the speculation and if the clause exists and Lamberts wants to play then its up to him to have the clause removed. We need back up for Zahore and Lambert could do a job, but not at the expense of our future wage resources.

you say nowhere near. but what exactly is near?. career ending does not mean unable to play ,just unable to play at the level your at. Mathew Jones Leicster and Wales retired at 23 with an insurance pay out ,went on to play in the league of Wales with the insurance stipulating he could still play but not for reward.
i dont doubt Ricky has the best intentions and genuinely thinks these problems will clear up. my original post said maybe he should be starting to think differently

He came here because Trollop is his mate and bigged him up to the Board.

I had hoped he would have been much more effective than he has although he did gain 3 vital points for us at Rotherham.

The club medics must have been happy with him before signing.

If he is fit then he should be given some game time but whether he stays next season is another matter as presumably NW would like to put his stupidly high wages towards other players he has in mind.
