Neil Warnock Tells Vincent Tan He Needs Only £6m To Stay At Cardiff City :bluebird:

http://www.dai-sport.com/neil-warnock-t ... y-cardiff/ :bluebird: :bluebird:

Neil Warnock has spelt out what he wants from Cardiff City in order to stay at the club next season – £6m to spend on three new players.

Warnock – whose steadily improving team face Derby County on Tuesday night – has revealed he spoke to owner Vincent Tan on Sunday, following the impressive 2-0 away victory at Leeds United.

Warnock is now due to meet chairman Mehmet Dalman following Saturday’s clash against another of his former clubs, Rotherham.

The focus will centre on plans for next season, with Warnock keen to get a commitment on spending before he decides whether or not to stay at the Bluebirds.

In contrast to some of the big-spending clubs in the Championship, Warnock has suggested he only needs a modest outlay in order to mount a promotion challenge.

“I don’t think we need an awful lot,” said Warnock.

“When you see these teams spending £10 and £12m on one player, I am talking about half that on three or four players.

“I don’t think I am asking for an awful lot. Everyone knows the situation and I think they (Tan and Dalman) know it. They are so happy at the minute and they want the club to do well, so. Hopefully, we can all get around the table and get the future sorted out.”

If Warnock does not get the assurances he is seeking, then he is unlikely to remain at the club beyond the current campaign.

Speaking to BBC Radio on Monday evening, the 68-year-old, who has already been in charge of 15 clubs, Warnock suggested other employers could soon be in the market for his services.

He added; “I spoke to Vincent on Sunday and he was absolutely delighted.

“So, too, was Mehmet and I’m going to see Mehmet at the weekend after the Rotherham game.

“We will have a few hours chat, because there are all sorts of things coming up. He knows that at my age, I really want to have a go at getting a promotion.

“I might not get it and I might end up getting the sack. You don’t know what is around the corner, but I do want to have a go.

“He also knows that there are other clubs who will need managers between now and the end of the season. But he knows how much I love it at Cardiff.

“Together, we have to get around the table. I know that Vincent and Mehmet want us to do well.

“So, it’s my intention to get everyone together and signing from the same hymn sheet.”

Since taking over from Paul Trollope in October, Warnock has won nine and drawn four of 21 Championship matches – a surge of form which would have put the club in the shake-up for the play-offs had it been extended over the whole season.

Why say anything about how much you want to spend , all it will do is inflate the prices of the players you go after

IMO we made this mistake back in 2013. I remember VT being interviewed after the Charlton game and he said MM would be given £25m for the following season and we all know what happened next...

I suppose it can also work the other way as NW could use the £6m limit as a bargaining chip by stating he can't afford to meet any inflated fees due to the modest transfer budget.

Also I wouldn't rule out NW having a few Bosman's in mind which would cost only wages.

Don't forget that Malky blew all that money on one player....

Thanks Rick I have been taking therapy sessions to try and forget that shambles :banghead: .

Actually it is fair to say he blew the vast majority on 3 players Andreas Cornelius, Gary Medel and Steven Caulker. AC was a disaster Medel was only worried about the World Cup in 2014 and went AWOL for the last third of the season and Caulker was average at best although he did score the winner against the JB's.

You have to wonder does £25m only buy you that load of shite? What a total waste of money.

Never say "only wages". £20k a week is £1million a year, £3milliion for a 3 year contract. £6million would only pay for two players. And if they are rubbish, you are stuck with them. The cost of transfer fees is almost irrelevant these days compared to the wages you have to pay.

I thought everyone was hoping Tan will convert our current debts to equity. Is he likely to add to the huge debts he has here already. As someone has said above, £20k a week soon mounts up. I would be very surprised if Tan makes anywhere near that amount available.

not everyone and certainly not me.
i would rather see tan convert 8 mill into a few decent players than into non existent equity .

I don't care what anyone says Medel was the best player to be at this club in a long long time.

Neil Warnock:"I might get the Sack"

By Chris Wathan

Tuesday 14th February 2017

NEIL WARNOCK:
'I might get the sack, but I want to have a go at promotion!' Neil Warnock reiterates his ambitions as Cardiff City face a fight to keep him

Neil Warnock has insisted the Bluebirds' hierarchy know he could be a wanted man if Cardiff City continue their charge this season.

But Warnock, who revealed he spoke with a “delighted” owner Vincent Tan after the impressive weekend win at Leeds , has reiterated his desire to fulfil promotion ambitions in South Wales after making clear his £5m summer spending plan.

The Elland Road victory saw Cardiff move up to 15th – and ten points clear of the relegation zone – after Warnock was appointed with the club just one place off the foot of the Championship table.

The side take their eye-catching form to Derby on Tuesday evening , with Rams boss Steve McClaren the only other second-tier manager to have had a bigger impact since coming in after the start of the season.

But while Warnock reckons Tan and chairman Mehmet Dalman will be aware that other clubs could be eyeing up the availability of Warnock, who is not committed to Cardiff beyond this season, he has again spoken of his desire to see the job through with summer backing.

“I spoke to Vincent on Sunday, he was absolutely delighted, he'd watched the game,” Warnock told BBC Radio Wales ahead of the clash at Pride Park.

“So was Mehmet and I’m going to see Mehmet at the weekend after the Rotherham game and have a few hours chat, because there are all sorts of things coming up.

“He knows that at my age, I really want to have a go at getting a promotion. He knows what it's like. I might not and I might end up getting the sack, you don’t know what is around the corner – but I do want to have a go at that.

“He also knows that there are other clubs, I'm sure between now and the end of the season, who are going to need managers – but he knows how much I love it.

“So I think together we have to get around the table. I know that Vincent and Mehmet want us to do well.

“So, it’s my intention to to talk to Mehmet to get everyone together and signing from the same hymn sheet.”

Neil Warnock at his first press conference with Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman.
Warnock has made no secret of the fact he wants to be assured there will be a transfer budget to bring in three to four players after the end of the current campaign having spent nominal amounts since coming in last October.

And he reiterated: “We do need improvement but Nooney (Craig Noone) and (Kadeem) Harris did very well on Saturday and Ken once again led the team well.

“I don’t think we need an awful lot. I say that because when you see these teams spending £10m and £12m on one player, I'm talking about half that on three or four players. I don’t think I am asking for an awful lot.

“Everyone knows the situation and I think they (Tan and Dalman) know it. They are so happy at the minute and they want the club to do well, so hopefully, we can all get around the table and get the future sorted out.”

Warnock's eyes for now, though, are on Derby who salvaged a point against Bristol City on the weekend having been 3-0 down at half-time, seeing their surge to the play-offs stutter a little but maintaining a ten-game unbeaten home run.

The veteran boss added: “When you look at the squad, it's unbelievable, as good as any in the division. They've got to beat us because they messed up at the weekend and they're going to miss out on the play-offs if they're not careful.”

Ridiculous statement concerning one of the best players I've ever seen playing for us.
But hey, what do you expect!

Imagine if he got 10 million in the summer. We would have a superb chance of automatic promotion.

I've always rated Warnock but never realised he was this good. He has taken a bunch of written off players and turned them into a force to be reckoned with. Even Brighton and Reading didn't beat us convincingly.

I haven't been this excited about the City for ages. Slade and Trollope had be miserable. Warnock has me really really hopeful and positive.

I could see him signing heaps of quality frees and loans and spending the money on wages rather than transfer fees. He is that savvy in this great league.
