Leeds United suffered another defeat at the weekend as Cardiff came away from Elland Road with a 2-0 win.

Ronaldo Vieira has admitted that he was to blame for Cardiff City's second goal in their 2-0 victory over Leeds United at Elland Road at the weekend, the Yorkshire Evening Post reports.

The Bluebirds had gone 1-0 up early on in the second-half on Saturday and they doubled their lead less than 20 minutes later as Aron Gunnarsson capitalised on a mistake in the Leeds midfield before driving through and laying the ball off for Kenneth Zohore, who tucked his effort home.

And Vieira has conceded that he should have done better, but added that he is looking to bounce back from the mistake.

"I could have left the ball for someone else to clear it out but I didn’t. I tried to get a touch and got caught," he said, as reported by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

"It’s football, it happens, and it could have happened to anyone.

"I have to learn and get on with it, and the team have to get on with it. We have to try and put it right on Tuesday."

What is vital for Vieira's development is that he is allowed to make those mistakes occasionally without the supporters putting pressure on him to simplify his game.

The 18-year-old has a huge amount of potential but he is not going to learn and perfect his craft if he feels forced to adopt a cautious approach through fear of making mistakes.

And while some youngsters give little indication that they are learning from their mistakes, Vieira's form this term has definitely been good enough that he has earned the right to try things, even if they occasionally cost Leeds, as he more often than not plays like a midfielder who looks set develop into something very special.
