LEEDS UNITED star Ronaldo Vieira has taken a swipe at Cardiff after their 2-0 defeat on Saturday.

Leeds United are currently flying high in fifth in the Championship table.

However, their bid to secure Premier League promotion took a significant hit against Cardiff at the weekend.

The Whites were stunned at Elland Road by goals from Sean Morrison and Kenneth Zohore.

Vieira's mistake allowed Zohore to score and the youngster has urged Leeds to bounce back.


And the 18-year-old has also aimed a dig at Cardiff in the process, accusing them of playing defensive football.

“We’ve got a chance to put it right. Hopefully we’ll do it because we can’t lose three games in a row," he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“There are still 15 games to go and plenty of time to put it right. We will lose points, hopefully not too many, but other teams will lose points too. Everyone will. We’ll just see how we end the season.

“It was like we were expecting it. Cardiff were going to come and play for the draw."


Leeds boss Garry Monk was left frustrated as his side lost to Cardiff

“We tried to keep the ball at a good tempo and we started the game well and the second half well.

“It was just a few mistakes where we got caught.

“Teams are going to come here and try to slow things down but we’ve got to speed it up as we’re playing at home.

“It’s a learning curve and we have to learn.”

Nothing better than hearing the opposition complain about how we played,especially when we "played for the draw" yet walked away with three points after a 2-0 win. not sure how they play for a draw in other parts of the world but when u go away from home and score 2 id say we done a bit more than play for a draw

can't help but wonder that his criticism of the City tactics stems from the fact he was at fault for the second goal,but in saying that l can't help but have some sympathy for the boy cause God knows I've made enough mistakes over the years and in all that time I've never had 15,000 people walk out on me for them

Is that really a dig at us or just simply stating what Leeds believed before the kick off? Personally I don't believe it was an intended dig as it could be interpreted as Leeds failed with their game plan even though they knew how we would play.

But there again he plays for Leeds they lost and I'm not that really bothered if posters want to slag him off for what he said

Tactically Warnock was much better than Monk. He knew what expect from Leeds including how the crowd would react. A win and a clean sheet at fortress Leeds , a job well done

They seem to have expected a very tight game with us mostly defending or having less ball, (that could be a reflection on our team, our league position or our stats this season). They, a team flying high and scoring goals and us just above a drop zone.

Sounds a bit like frustration because theyve now lost 2 games, it doesn't sound much like a dig at us

I read a similar interview on the Leeds Forum.. we basically did to them what they did to us last season

Ok, crass may have been a tad extreme but naïve and disrespectful certainly.

His manager should be having a word as disappointment is one thing but the accusation he made, and the expectation [of City] he had showed a naivety.

how dare he have 2 braincells. yes we set up defensively because our manager has a few braincells himself. and by sounds of it Monk and Leeds players knew how we would set up to frustrate as well.
infact everyone knew.
apart from a dozen or so that thought we play a 2 2 6 formation everyweek and go out to win by double figures. and are now offended because some poor journo has told them that comon sense = a dig
