" Neil Warnock on his future with Cardiff City '

Friday 10th February 2017

"We’re going to have a chat in the next few weeks when I can get to London."

"I get on really well with them, I speak to Vincent (Tan) every week. It’s a matter of what we can do."

"They know my feelings and so far I’ve had nothing but support."

"When you get to my age you don’t look beyond the end of the season."

"Contracts are just talk for the press really."

"My contract is the relationship with Vincent and Ken Choo and getting results on the pitch. If I can do that I’ll be here for a while.”

Neil Warnock reveals he will meet with club's owners this month to discuss future with Cardiff City

By IAN MITCHELMORE

Friday 10th February 2017

Neil Warnock has revealed he is set to meet with the club's hierarchy in the next few weeks to discuss his future at Cardiff City.

The Yorkshireman has made no secrets of his desire to guide the Bluebirds into the promised land of the Premier League next season but admits he'll need to be backed the the club's owners in the summer transfer window.

And Warnock has said ahead of his side's Championship clash with promotion-chasing Leeds united at Elland Road that he hopes to meet with the club's owners before the end of the month to discuss his future in the Welsh capital.

"We’re going to have a chat in the next couple of weeks when I can get to London and see Mehmet (Dalman)," said Warnock.

"I get on really well with them, I speak to Vincent (Tan) every week. It’s a matter of seeing what we can do, they know my feelings and so far I've had nothing but support and I expect that whatever happens."

Cardiff were 23rd in the Championship table when Paul Trollope was axed and but would have been comfortably in the top half of the table over the course of Warnock's tenure with the club.

The 68-year-old will see his contract with the club expire at the end of this season - but Warnock admits that if results continue to see Cardiff edge their way up the Championship table, he could remain in south Wales for long into the future.

"When you get to my age you don't really look beyond the end of the season," added the Cardiff boss.

"Contracts are just talk for the press really. You can have a 10-year contract and be gone by the end of the month.

"My contract is the relationship with Vincent and Ken Choo and getting results on the pitch. If I can do that I’ll be here for a while."

NEIL WARNOCK:

Friday 10th February 2017

Warnock has regularly spoken of his desire to guide Cardiff into the Premier League next season, but he admits the Bluebirds still have a fight on their hands to avoid dropping out of the Championship at the end of the current campaign.

When asked if the Bluebirds are still in a relegation battle, Warnock responded: "Absolutely. The quicker we can get to 50 points the better.

"But you don’t get much tougher games than Leeds and Derby away. It’s hard or the fans with all the travelling.

"I’m looking further on now. I would’ve liked to have brought one more in in the January transfer window."

"I know all the hard work is going to be done at the end of the season."

That last sentence about his relationship with Ken and Tan is what I put on here a while ago and exactly what Ken told me.
Makes sense as Warnock doesn't look to far ahead in football nowadays.

So what about that headline on here a few days back, "Warnock To Stay & Will Be Backed". A few of us thought that this was probably a bit of a made up story, and the words spoken today completely contradict that story. As many of us suspected, nothing has yet been discussed in detail or decisions made. Of course, the usual suspects were on the case the minute it was suggested that we did not know if Warnock would stay or whether he would get the backing he wants. Hopefully he will stay and get the funds he needs, but as we thought, nothing has been agreed yet.

im going to say it, Warnock could well be the start of the resurrection of Cardiff.
But also praise will need to go to Tan also.

Steve, let's not start again as we got hammered by Polo and Wez for not agreeing with it and being negative

Fair comment. I for one would love to see Warnock stay, and get a bit of financial backing although I know we can't go overboard while we have our current debts. Spent so many years listening to promises and nearly always being disappointed, I can't help being a bit cynical when I read these sort of reports.

I'd be happy for him to stay for at least next season because I believe he'll leave a strong squad behind both physically and mentally

That headline was as misleading as the many on same subject over past week !!! Today's headline can be interpreted anyway you choose! But what is clear from the many quotes he has said its he wants to stay, Wether he does is an open question with no answer until the summer.

This article seems to be slanted more towards him being ALLOWED to stay if he keeps doing well, as opposed to him CHOOSING to stay if he is backed.

Slightly different from before. But he could be just telling it from both sides I suppose.

I heard it yesterday just seemed to take a different angle from the "if the board back me I'll stay" quotes previously.

It was not as much chase me and more, if I do good they may keep me.
