Neil Warnock is in the running to be named Championship manager of the month – with the Bluebirds January form able to make it a five-time tribute to the veteran boss.
Warnock is up against promotion-chasing Jaap Stam of Reading and Norwich's Alex Neil, as well as Wolves chief Paul Lambert, with the winner announced on Friday morning.
And victory would make it five-up for Warnock who has already won the award with four different clubs -- and making it an impressive eight gongs from his long career.
Warnock was honoured while at Sheffield United, Crystal Palace, QPR and during his spell at Rotherham last year, winning the April 2016 award for his role in steering the Millers away from relegation.
This time Cardiff's New Year run of results which has seen three home league wins from three in January against Aston Villa, Burton and Preston – all of which without conceding a goal – as well as a dramatic win away at local rivals Bristol City, picking up 12 points from a possible 18.
Stam's record is the same – with one of his wins coming against the Bluebirds in a 2-1 Royals victory at the Madejski – while Norwich's Neil collected 10 points from four games, with last weekend's 1-0 win at Cardiff City Stadium not taken into account having fallen in February. Wolves picked up seven points from four games to ease relegation fears, though did also have an FA Cup shock win over Liverpool at Anfield.
Warnock will find out if he has been successful ahead of Saturday's trip to Elland Road to take on Leeds, but the 68-year-old has already picked up his fair share of monthly awards with seven to his name.
