Cardiff City stalwart set to miss chunk of season

Sunday February 5, 2017

Vital Cardiff City

Full-back Lee Peliter is to require an operation which could see him miss the remainder of the season, but only when the Bluebirds are safe from relegation.

Neil Warnock says the 30 year-old full-back needs an operation on his ankle which could see him miss up to three months of action, but Warnock says "we are low on numbers,so i need every player we have until we are safe"

However, the Bluebirds’ boss has urged the defender to put up with the pain until Cardiff are safe from the drop.

Warnock suggested Peltier might play through pain as he needs an operation, but yesterday he ushered Matt Connolly back into the side at right back, with youngster Mark Harris named among the substitutes.

It looks like Peltier might have to have the operation sooner than later.

Warnock is desperate to keep playing the full-back, and is a huge fan of him. Earlier in the season, Warnock described the defender as being one of the ‘best’ in the Championship, and if he was to have £10 million at his disposal, he probably wouldn’t find a better full-back.

However, Cardiff will eventually have to do without their reliable full-back, speaking on Friday, Neil Warnock revealed: “Peltier will have to have an operation on his ankle at some stage.

“I said to him he can have it as soon as we get safe because he will be out for two or three months. He has floating bones in the ankle so it needs a wash-out as soon as possible – but we can’t afford him to have it yet so he will carry on unless it gets too bad.”

Peltier has been a key part of the squad so far this season, and has made a total of 26 appearances in the Championship, making the full-back spot his own.

The experienced full-back has made a total of 82 appearances for the Bluebirds since joining from Championship rivals Huddersfield during the 2015 January transfer window

However, for him to continue at full strength, Warnock must eventually do without Peltier this term.

I'd play jazz on the right and Declan on the left in a 3-5-2 then we can play Rhys to help Kenthe operation is better done sooner rather than later

With due respect to your opinion are you talking about the opinions of Mr Trollope, Mr Slade , Mr Young and Mr Solskar , Mr Warnock decided not to release him in the window and played him yesterday so must think its worth giving him a chance. I thought the balance looked better late in the game yesterday I thought we looked more balanced with Jazz on the right and Declan on the left. But its only my opinion and who knows long term.

I don't agree with it and yes it's also utter bonkers he never got backed in January.

Its also utterly bonkers Warnock went to sleep on deadline day instead sorting out a proper swap with Ipswich for Huws.

Whats even more utterly bonkers was Warnock still allowing Huws to leave because, in his own words, "Micks an old mate so I thought id give them one extra".

Giving a direct rival "one extra" whilst leaving us short in midfield.

He got backed for defensive cover in January he brought in Greg Halford who can play right back, so can Matt Conolly and so can Jazz Richards. Bennet is back soon to play left back and John could play left back if we decided to use Richards as RB.

We have more than enough defensive cover for Peltier.

Im not Anti-Warnock at all im just pointing out the double standards.

No good crying about not being backed when you cant even be arsed to stay awake on deadline day. Not that ive heard Warnock crying about it, he understands the financial position far better than most on here who wanrt Tan out but not before hes broken the FFP rules.

Also, If Slade had said some of the things Warnock has said you would have started umpteen negative threads about it.

agree with every word yove said in all your posts on this thread.
Nubbsy said have to take him with a pinch of salt.im afraid its correct and a shame.
he had a swipe at the committee
the FA for arranging a game
the FAW for being slow ,yet we moved players out quickly?
agents for not ringing back
then owns up to having a sleep in the middle of it. :laughing5:

no doubt Tom Jericho will be on shortly to say how easy all that is to decipher.

Can't believe still moaning about him not getting backed, do any of you actually follow football these days or know how transfer windows works?

Look at the clubs like Forest, Villa throwing the cheque book out at it in what? To missed out on play offs with 2 games to spare probably.

JANUARY WINDOW IS INFLATED AND NOT WORTH IT.

He got backed to bring in 4 players in a non transfer window period, he can obviously be trusted and backed. But some will choose to ignore that to have a dig at the board just because we lost 1-0 v Norwich on the weekend.

To be fair it was Brighton, Reading and Norwich we lost to in the space of 11 days. Having said that. it is difficult to spend money that you have'nt got unless we want to start running up even bigger debts than we already have. let's hope we already have enough here to keep us up this season.

We lost narrowly against all 3 of them by 1 goal, we could have walked away with 3 points if we took our first half chances against Brighton and Reading we could have got a point and Norwich was just one of them days. We are competing against the top 10 teams and even without many signings we are becoming a difficult team to break down.

I just don't see why we really needed get anyone in this window, I am happy to accept a mid table finish especially with how we started the season and we are 8 points above the relegation zone. Your last part is correct, we don't have money to spend and I don't get how fans are saying he ain't being backed when there's nothing there to spend, how can people be so naive to not even realise it.
