12 points from 17 games

That's all that's needed, even if its 14 points to stay up, id be amazed if NW couldn't get that points all, 4 wins, couple of draws! 11 losses, do it easy, glad we didn't waste money this window!

Eight points clear at the moment.

Four teams below us won today whilst we lost.

Three of those teams have a game in hand on us.

We have two tough away games to come from which we will be lucky to take any points.

We are down to the bare bones of a squad with injuries which will take some time to heal.

Other teams around us have strengthened during January - we've weakened.

It's going to be a lot harder for the remainder of this season than some people seem to think.

 Not a buyers market. Healey and Mark Harris need game time.

Is a relegation battle the time to be giving them that game time?

Hopefully they can start a few games at the end of the season if and when we are safe.

We don't want to be playing teams like Newcastle and Huddersfield still needing points to survive.

Is there ever a good time to blood players in the championship? Slade took a lot of stick for not playing the youngsters, but in reality he couldn't risk doing so as we were still in with a shout of making the playoffs.

Honestly, I think we will be more than safe by the time we go to Huddersfield and Newscastle - in fact I think we will be safe by the time we go away to Sheffield Wednesday in mid April - so personally I think we have as good an opportunity now to give some young lads a bit of game time as we are ever likely to have.

Besides it's not like we are talking about wholesale changes to the first XI - I think Healy deserves more game time and will get it between now and the end of the season which will be his opportunity to stake a claim for next season whilst Mark Harris is quite rightly being gently eased in.

Actually just re read your comment and think we're pretty much on the same page just a matter of slightly different perspective.

Without wanting to put words in your mouth I think you are saying that we should give them some game time but think we should wait until the points for safety are secured.

Whilst I think that we will secure those points anyway so giving Healy in particular, and to a lesser extent M Harris, more game time between now and then won't put that at jeopardy (so why wait.)

Personally I'd love to see Zohore and Healy given the chance to develop a partnership. I think they could work well together as Healy is the natural finisher whilst Zohore is a handful that can create space for someone playing off him. Both are raw talents but if they could build up an understanding between them they could potentially be a half tidy combo.

The season we went up Peterborough were relegated on 54 points which is a lot but given Blackburn who occupy 3rd from bottom themselves have 28 points already with 19 games to play I think the team that goes down 3rd from bottom will have a higher points tally than those in the same spot over the last few years.

They probably think they could get 5 wins, 5 draws and 9 defeats out of there remaining games and so will those above them.

I dont think we will go down but we are not out of it yet, if we lose against Leeds and Derby then things could start to look bleak again, aftee that we have back to back home games against Rotherham and Fulham and then back to back away games to Blackburn and QPR who will be fighting for their lives same as us.

peterboriugh had 27pts from 29 games much the same as blackpool do now.
so everything you say makes sense.
rotherham i think are gone,so we could do with 2 other teams hitting the wall. bristol city? nxt 4 derby away, leeds away, fulham home, newcastle away. and until today on a shit run might be 1.

I think it will be 2 of Burton, Blackburn, Bristol City and Wigan that join Rotherham tbh mate.

I cant see QPR or Wolves going down or any of the other sides above although Im not 100% confident we wont get dragged back in.

I think we will stay up but only by around 5-6 points by the time the season finishes.

Nothing is ever set in stone, but what I will say is people tend to panic and if you look at people's posts a lot tend to react massively after one game. Be it a win I find a lot over react yet a defeat it's exactly the same. Yesterday showed again what we know, we lack that little bit of quality and had we had that we wouldn't have been beaten by Brighton or reading.

As far as we have come and as average as Norwich were yesterday, you need that extra bit of quality to beat the sides in the top half of the table. But what's also apparent and for me more important right now is we can beat the other sides, Preston Bristol city villa and Burton are recent evedince of this.

We will without drop places and climb places like the others, but over the remainder of the season we will not in s million years go down under Warnock.

We all want to see new arrivals every club does, a striker would have been nice but it has to improve the team and be at the right price which isn't as simple as many people think.

Healey has something about him, we have some good options on the wings although not perfect and you can't argue with our defence as a unit together with an Uncreative yet solid midfield.

Am looking forward to seeing who Warnock brings in over the summer which is exactly what will happen.

There is a lot of truth in what you have said, some of our fans do get carried away after certain games. For example, yesterday was never going to be an easy game. That was Norwich's third win in a row, 4 out of the last 5. They are a team that has spent 4 of the last 5 seasons in the Premier League.

I said on here that we were playing them at an unfortunate time when they have just seemed to have turned the corner.

People need to look at the bigger picture at times, when we won those 3 games in a row it was great don't get me wrong and a win is a win when you are in our position but when you analysed the games we beat Burton with a last minute goal, and was nip and tuck with Bristol City right until the end and they were both awfull teams on huge losing streaks, it was far from convincing, then we lose back to back away games, come back and have a good result against Preston and hey presto you have people saying we could go on a late surge for the Play Offs

play off talk was insane. a top half finish in itself was a real tall order. lets just stay up.

Re: 12 points from 17 games

Sun Feb 05, 2017 10:56 pm

Ilike everyone else I sincerely hope we stay up, and, on balance, I think we will. BUT it could be a very close call. I like Warnock and he has done well and IF we stay up then 2018 could be a great season. However I am worried that NW didnt get one or 2 players in.

Also I cant see the point in loaning out younger players such as Emyr Huws and O Keefe. Wheres the logic in loaning EH to potential relegation rivals, especially when our midfield often struggles and dont chip in goals. (I dont think that his signing of GH improves the team at all). If you look at KZ and JR they are good egs of players that have improved after getting a run of games.

Stringfellow said "but over the remainder of the season we will not in s million years go down under Warnock."
I wish I had that confidence!!
