Craig Bellamy has taken his first steps in senior coaching under Neil Warnock at Cardiff City with the Senior players.

MirrorSport revealed last September that Bellamy had been given the chance of a job coaching Cardiff's youngsters.

He was confirmed in December as Bluebirds' Player Development Manager following Warnock's appointment in October as boss at the Championship club.

Bellamy's role is to help nurture Cardiff's youngsters and coach every age group, from under-10s to under-23s.

But MirrorSport understands Bellamy, 37, has recently also helped experienced Warnock by taking ad-hoc coaching sessions with the first team and has done this on a number occasions.

Bellamy's priority though is helping Cardiff's youngsters progress into the first team squad.

The club have previously produced the likes of Aaron Ramsey, who displaced John Toshack as Cardiff's youngest player aged 16 years and 124 days as a substitute against Hull in April 2007.

Now some of Bellamy's current batch of kids are also believed to have big potential too.

Former Newcastle, Liverpool and Man City striker Bellamy has a wealth of experience after also being capped 78 times by Wales.

He did his Pro Licence during a sabbatical after retiring in 2014 and is a legend in Cardiff for playing for the club in two spells.

I think that Bellamy will be a very important part of the club in the near future.

With the financial restrictions which the club would seem to be working under for the foreseeable future it is going to be vital that we start getting a regular supply of talent coming through from the youth teams.

We need to start getting players who are ready for the first team at age 18 and 19, not having a development squad full of 22 amd 23 year olds who are seen as "ones for the future".

It can only help Bellamy seeing how Warnock works, particularly at Championship level.

I worry however that if Warnock walks away this summer it will be too early for Bellamy to step up to first team coach.

I would also question of if he would want to manage a club who's only long term ambition would be to remain at it's current level.

If Warnock leaves it because the board (Tan) will not give the support to fight for promotion therefore I don't think Bellamy will take the job either as any decent manager will want money for promotion.

If Tan does this and Warnock walks I think supporters should start demos again while on sky live showing him and all his fellow business colleagues and other teams it worked with the Blue at the end.

Maybe we should chant Mrs Tan tell that son of yours to back Warnock

Not once said I don't rate him thank you what I have said it's incredibly hypocritical of him to criticise the FA for arranging fixtures on deadline day so he couldn't be negotiating but then he himself goes for an afternoon nap on deadline day missing over 20 phone calls.

It will give hin good experience working within the club coaching but especially under the guidance of Warnock. Hopefully this will prepare him for a role in the future.
