" Excellent transfer window "

Wed Feb 01, 2017 12:48 pm

Another 6 useless players off the books that were signed by our previuos useless managers. More money for Warnock in the summer to get the players he really wants. We are not going up or down this season so no need to waste money on inflated prices in January. The club is finally being run properly and next season could be a special one with Warnock at the helm. We are only 3 first team players away from being a top 6 team and with arguably the best manager in the league we may surprise a few next season

Like I said elsewhere many managers regard the Jan transfer window as a sticking plaster if your clubs in trouble-we are not

Careful now.... this is all tans fault for not backing Warnock. Read the other threads, even though we only have small crowds some people expect mass signings - total nonsense.

for me the club has been going the right way for some time, live by your means. Tan is bit by bit sorting the business out here yet people only see mass signings as a sign he is interested. he could have walked long ago and left us right in the shyte.

I for one am happy we didn't panic buy in January. This has been what has happened in the past. Save the dosh, Warnock may have the odd freebie up his sleeve which lets face it, 2 of them he brought in (Hoilett & Bamba) have redefined our team and for me are better than anything we could have got in January.

Agree with you ,I wanted a striker but tbh our home form is good enough to stay up so better waiting till the summer where warnock can wheel and deal ,there is always good players on free transfers about that don't have to break the bank

It seem like same old players moving again like Rhodes, Mcormack gestede it's an anual event? :D

What I didn't get was this embarrassing pursuit of an ageing scots winger plying his trade in the equivalent of League 1.

In the end we got in a keeper, and a utility player. Plus Healey has now had his chance.

I'd have kept Kennedy as he was worth more pitch time but the others are no loss.

Agree that a few quality signings over the summer and City will be in with a decent shout next season with Warnock. He'll have deserved the chance if he takes us from relegation fodder to hopefully mid table.

Pity nobody came in to take Fred off our hands

Personally i am quite happy we did not sign anyone especially a striker as i believe either through rhyme or reason or any other dynamic this will present the opportunity for Zohore and Healey to get accustomed to the riggers of Championship football and i am sure they will not disappoint and can only benefit our club,as for a winger we have enough back up to get us through this season so hopefully the money saved this transfer window can be added to next terms budget and if NW is still here then i imagine he will spend it on what is needed for areal go at the play offs.

Hey, that's a bit positive isn't it? Think we needed one or two to make sure of safety but we also must get realistic!

We all knew what this window would really be like. It's disappointing not to have got one or two but clubs were taking the piss. Hopefuly this goes toward more financing in the summer or Warnock will walk.

I agree with those who say we did not desperately need to sign anyone yesterday. I think we are more than capable of staying up with the players who are already here, and I would have been surprised if we had signed someone before the window shut last night. What I don't agree with is those who think because we save money yesterday offloading players and not buying any, that the money saved will go into the pot for Summer spending. I think it will be used to reduce debts, and I think that we will continue to operate in the same way for a while yet. Not a bad thing, the club needs to be financially sound, but I do not think we will be challenging for promotion while we have these massive debts outstanding. Have been through this sort of scenario umpteen times over the 50 years I have been a fan, and only once during that time did we briefly reach the very top.

Far too positive for this board

Quality players were signed by many other Championship clubs. If Tan has faith in Warnock then he should've been backed to sign the likes of Hayes.
I never expected mass signings, but as a result of offloading very good players such as O'Keefe we are left hopelessly short of manpower in midfield if we have injuries.
Long-term Vinnie the Red has no interest.
The ludicrous selling of Moore and Marshall and failure to support Warnock proves it.

If tan has faith in warnock then why sign an average unproven player in January when come summer countless players will be out of contract.

All the other teams arnt suddenly going to become world beaters, most of them have probably been ripped off. I'm as anti tan as it gets but he's now paying our debts off so who cares if he's in it for the long run. He's here for five years while he settles the huge debts and then hopefuly he sells up.

I'm not really bothered that we didn't sign many players during the window and the club have done well to offload a load of deadwood from the books. We're not going up or down, so pointless just making signings for the sake of it. The clubs stance bodes well for FFP, we don't want to be spunking money on the likes of Eoin Doyle again, by the way who's now playing in League 2.
If the club fail to back Warnock in the summer, then I will be concerned.

On the face of it I have to agree with what you say BUT ihave two proviso's.

!. If we get relegated (and I agree that's unlikely but remember there's no emergency loan system and a few injuries or suspensions could stretch our squad to the limit) it will have been a disastrous transfer window.

2. Will Warnock actually be given any money in the summer or will the savings be used to reduce the debt? Next season will only be special if Warnock is here and he won't be if he's not backed by the club.

We can only wait and see.

Only need to get rid of Amos, Lambert and goungibe and all the dead wood is gone.

We might be next season's Brighton!

Just on the first point. I would imagine/hope we have the option to recall one or two of the loanees if there is a need to?

Warnock said himself that he was disappointed. We still haven't got a proven goal scorer like Grabban. Our midfield is seriously depleted by the loaning of O'Keefe.
The window was even more disappointing than Warnock suggests.
Also, Aberdeen rate Hayes and so too does NW, which is why he kept bidding.
I'm positive after Tuesday, but our squad is weak in key areas.
