" Smoke and Mirrors "

I wonder how really hard they tried to sign Warnock's Targets

two or three bids for Hayes well below their valuation of the player

Matty TAYLOR was available for 300k ? we didn t really go for him

Grabban went out on loan and a few others

I think it was half hearted ploys to kid the fans that we were seriously in for them .

The proof will be the in summer if Warnock stays? BUT I WON T HOLD MY BREATH

Season Ticket spin first and if thats followed by no ambition

If they dont give money to the only manager we have had lately, who know s what to do with it.
Then it will show their lack of desire and sense...then watch the crowds dwindle

Seriously? Are people like you never happy?

Previous years we've paid over the odds and ridiculous wages, we've accumulated a debt of £180million.

The club was losing fans and going to the football was a chore. Sat in the championship relegation spots.

Fast forward to now, we have a manager the fans wanted, the players are fighting for the club every game, supporters are slowly coming back, club debt is being reduced year on year and we aren't buying mercenary past it footballers., the club is stabilising.

And you moan.......

i am talking about the way they have portrayed going after players ...they have wasted a lot of money with untested managers yet warnock wants two cheapies to start building his squad. What i am saying is if they wanted them they could have got them

Of course their never happy, they're City fans, expect money to be spent and debt still to magically disappear. Better that they've reduced the wages slightly by sending out on loan players who aren't in NW plans than getting in more players that aren't any better than what we've got. January has always been a shite and expensive window, better to wait till the summer.

Again at a time the club is decreasing the debt you wanted them to spend.....your post is that simple.

By the way your bit about opinions....maybe it was the clubs opinion taking into account Hayes wages he wasn't worth the higher valuation.

Everybody has an opinion. But you must expect it to be critisised otherwise why post in the first place.Besides you rely on hearsay and scant facts to form your opinion so it should come as no surprise to get critisied.

I am all for steadying the ship....but all i have seen from Choo and Dalman is spin and hype if you dont like my opinion don t read..

I have supported city city for 40 years i spend my money and i am entitled to my opinion.
My main point is that those two build up the hype to con us. and that was the same with so called signings

Its people like you who jump on people s backs who really make me sick ..you cannot agree to disagree.

My point is mate I could have used exactly he same facts as you to congratulate NW and the transfer committee for not being stupid and paying over the odds for players that are unproven at this level and giving them 3yr contracts to boot.I've lost count of the number of managers that have said the jan transf window is nothing more than a sticking plaster approach for clubs that are in trouble. Also our vastly improved form over the last month or so means were able to keep our powder dry for the summer.

Re: Smoke and Mirrors

sneggy... you have converted me...and i agree...but i am stilll...adamant on the fact that we have a couple of people in charge of us who are portrayers of inexactitudes.... that is my main point :thumbright:

What exactly have Ken Choo and Mehmet Dalman said that you think is spin and hype?

I haven't seen much from them at all since Warnock arrived - although both did a few interviews when Trollope was manager. They seem to be keeping a low public profile which is good. Almost everything I have seen that goes back to them (or to Vincent Tan) has been via Neil Warnock interviews, and that has been mostly positive stuff about vision for the club, same hymn sheet, and responsibility about costs, value for money and FFP. No spin. No hype.

As to the January window bids, I'm sure Warnock is a bit aggrieved we didn't get one more in - but January transfers are all overpriced and I doubt Hayes is worth what Aberdeen wanted (although Warnock says they never came clean on their valuation). I would much rather see Healey, Zahore, K and M Harris, Richards and a few more youth players given an opportunity than spend silly money on average transfers. Some other clubs have gambled big time with excessive spending or with ripping up their squads to start again (Wigan signed 12 players in January). Our window may have been low key (3 in, 6/7 out) but it keeps the club safe.

Kimble, Your right to have your opinion and you should not be slagged down for it.
Of course questions should be asked as we signed no one and moved 6 players.

When you have Neil Warnock saying he can't wait for January and saying we need a striker,we need a winger, back me etc and nothing happens us fans should ask questions :thumbright: :bluebird:

The truth is there was No real money to buy players.

Only last year and the year before Dalman said we had money to spend and we brought in expensive waste of money freebies.

Now we have Warnock,he should be fully backed as he is proven manager and already has done a great job for us :thumbright: :thumbright: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Firstly, just one correction. The club did actually sign three players in January; McGregor, Halford and the young non-league striker.

We may have our views on those but nobody can deny that they are certainly Warnock signings.

However, in general I think that we are all just guessing as to what is planned for the summer.

My view is that if Warnock had received no encouragement regarding summer investment he will be gone well before the end of the season and might possibly have gone before now.

Now whether that investment actually comes off is something we, and probably Warnock, will find out in May/June.

Where we are in agreement is that it's going to be a long few seasons ahead of us if Tan doesn't back a manager of Warnock's calibre.

Of course everyone should be able to express an opinion and not be criticised for it. But other posters also have the right to point out where an opinion is factually wrong.

Kimble stated that all he has seen from Dalman and Choo is spin and hype. As another poster pointed out , both those individuals have in fact been remarkable quiet and not spun or hyped anything.

As for transfers , we did bring in 3 players in January (2 permanent and 1 loan) , but let 5 go on a permanent basis and another 6 out on loan. The net wages cost savings for the rest of the season will be very substantial. For the players let go permanently , whatever we got as a transfer fee for O`Sullivan and Phipps (I doubt it was much) was a profit , Richardson and Chamakh cost us nothing so no loss at the end of their short term contracts and we only lost £200k to £300k on the release of Immers early from his contract (which will be more than balanced by the wages saving for the rest of the season).

Yes Warnick signings after the mess up in the sale of Marshall and signing of Amos by our committee.

A virtually trainee from Harrow Borough and a free Halford from Rotherham.

If I was Tan I would be thinking that, as long as FFP doesn't get in the way, giving Warnock a war chest could represent his biggest opportunity of recouping a decent amount of the money he has already put in. Or is that the eternal optimist in me again :D :ayatollah:

Yes , it`s me.

I will forgive you for initially saying we had brought nobody in during the January transfer window :D I missed someone off my list of players out on loan as well (TOBW - Paul Evans got it right in his blog today) - a young reserve keeper that we lent out to Redditch.

Mehemet Dalman has always been a "spin doctor" - it is part of his "day job" as a corporate finance man! But neither he nor Ken Choo have created any "spin" or "smoke and mirrors" about the transfer window unless someone can point out any direct quotes they have made that I may have missed.

The David Marshall sale was necessary to generate some cash and also to create a transfer profit in the profit and loss account to help with FFP. I believe the Ben Amos signing was a costly mistake.

We as a club will bid on what OUR valuation is of the player no theirs. Perhaps Warnock didn't value Hayes at one million or whatever Aberdeen valued him at so was correct not to buy him.

Perhaps our manager didn't fancy Grabban or wages were an issue, etc, etc.
